EXCLUSIVE: Coronation Street star left speechless over 'huge' Christmas Day twist
Catherine Tyldesley has teased some really big 'twists' ahead this Christmas Day on Coronation Street that left her 'blown away', and she says fans will be 'hooked'
There's set to be some massive Coronation Street twists on Christmas Day this year, according to one stunned star of the ITV soap.
Eva Price actress Catherine Tyldesley shared her shocked reaction to what unfolds in an exclusive chat with The Mirror. She promised "carnage" and said that why the usual humour and camaraderie will be very much present, there's also some bombshell moments.
Catherine said she was left speechless when she read the scripts and uncovered what was happening with her family, the Driscolls, and over Christmas on the soap. She reckons fans will be "hooked" by what goes on in the big episode, while trying to keep things under wraps.
She told us: "If I was to describe Christmas in three words I'd say carnage, that being the key word, sparkly and... I've got to be really careful with what I say. I'll play it safe. I'm going to say boozy.

You have still got that comforting and loving aspect of Christmas Day on Coronation Street, but there are some huge twists too which will hopefully keep everybody hooked.
"When I was reading the scripts I was like, 'What?!', wow. It just blew me away, it really blew me away." But it's not just Christmas that will see big moments unfold, especially where the Driscolls are concerned.
The new family, including Eva, her husband Ben and Eva's mother-in-law Maggie, will hit screens very soon. It's safe to say they are bringing plenty of classic soap fun and drama with them, and maybe the odd twist too.
Catherine said: "There are so many twists and turns with the Driscolls. The mother-in-law from hell feels like a harsh title but I don't think I am far off.
"The constant swipes at each other, and Ben is very much stuck in the middle. Things do start to come to a head and he has to make that decision of whose side are you on here. They both get frustrated with him.
"It's a great and fun dynamic. Pauline McLynn [who plays Maggie] and I keep saying, 'Was that too much? Should we tone it down a bit?'."
Catherine reckons viewers could be seeing a new Corrie icon in the making with Maggie too. She said: "Pauline is hysterical. She is so funny but so brilliant. She plays heartbreak so brilliantly but has me in fits of giggles.
"I feel like the character of Maggie is someone that will become a real firm favourite with Coronation Street fans. I'm a Corrie fan and I am looking at her and I'm thinking, this woman is iconic. She's a real great addition to the street."
