David Beckham spills insider truths in sports feud series dropping in days
The football icon is featured in a new Disney Plus documentary delving into the history of sports brands Adidas and Puma
David Beckham is set to spill 'insider' truths in a new documentary charting an iconic sportswear rivalry.
Disney+ has just unveiled a trailer for its forthcoming docuseries, Sneaker Wars: Adidas V Puma, which features Beckham among other legendary athletes.
Releasing on Wednesday, September 24th, the three-part doc dives into the family feud embedded in Adidas and Puma's histories.
The official synopsis teases: "Sneaker Wars: Adidas V Puma offers an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look into the fierce, decades-long rivalry between two global sportswear giants, born from a family feud.
"Brothers Adi and Rudi Dassler founded Adidas and Puma, turning their personal conflict into a battle for dominance in the athletic world."
Disney+ adds: "Featuring top athletes, ‘sneakerhead’ experts, and brand insiders including David Beckham, Usain Bolt, Neymar and more, the series charts the origins of the Dassler split, their innovative contributions to sports culture, the defining moments in the global fashion industry, and the ongoing legacy of two brothers whose rivalry changed the game forever."
Although the German-born sports brands have reached global fame, viewers may not know the truth behind the brothers that founded them.
Sneaker Wars dives into everything from how the brand names were created to their infamous collaborations, such as rapper Kanye West's partnership with Adidas.
The likes of Olympic champion Usain Bolt, who partnered with Puma throughout his record-breaking career, offer additional insight into the brands' quiet rivalry.
Viewers can also expect to hear from young Olympic star Noah Lyles, popular content creator Craig Mitch and fellow members of the public.
Sneaker Wars comes from American production company Matador Content, and the Emmy award-winning Studio 99.
Beckham's cameo in the Disney docuseries will drop just weeks before his wife Victoria's new self-titled Netflix series.
Set to premiere on October 9th, the three-part show charts the popstar's life from her formative years to her rise to fame, and the public scrutiny that came thereafter.
Her husband is featured in the anticipated documentary, alongside A-listers Tom Ford, Roland Mouret, Anna Wintour and Eva Longoria - to name a few.
