Devastated Heartstopper fans share why they think Season 3 will be the last
As fans gear up for Season 3 of Heartstopper in October, some fans have speculated that the series will end after the third instalment.
Heartstopper fans are eagerly anticipating the third series airing on Netflix in October so they can find out what the gang are up to in the upcoming instalment.
Netflix's adaptation of the popular graphic novels by Alice Oseman follows the lives of a group of school friends who are navigating sexuality, relationships and adolescence.
Ahead of the third season's release, one Reddit user has pointed out why the upcoming third instalment could be the last chapter on Netflix. The fan in question pointed out that the actors are growing up while filming and so they may not fit the characters they're continuing to play.
"Realistically they casted young adults at the start so that the actors could accurately portray the characters in the graphic novel," they began. "However, the actors are growing up as filming continues, and if they were to stretch it to a fifth season our main actors Joe Locke and Kit Connor (who already have matured a lot since the start of the series) would then be in their mid-20s.
"Also, because Joe and Kit are getting older, they’re pursuing new phases in their career maybe leaving Heartstopper in their teenage years. we know that after season one they were guaranteed for Season 2 and 3 I feel as though that would mean Alice would want to wrap up the story within that time frame.
"High school is only four years and Heartstopper only follows these characters through high school, so having more than three seasons, could just feel like drawing out something."
The post in question divided other fans as some agreed about the show ending while others pointed out why it would continue. One viewer commented: "I would love a fourth season but I’m not convinced we’ll get one."
Another devastated fan said: "The thought of Heartstopper ending (which I know it will eventually) makes me want to cry. Lol am I alone in this? Like I am pre-grieving."
However, not everybody felt the same way as somebody pointed out: "Kit Connor went from being a boy to a man from Season 1 to 2 even though in the story one day passed. None of us batted an eye. I think everyone needs to chill with the age comments."
While another stated: "I feel like we'll still have a fourth season and maybe we'll even have a special, a movie or a Christmas episode."
It remains to be seen how many seasons Heartstopper will continue for but for now, fans have the third instalment to look forward to.
