GMB's Richard Madeley 'shuts down' Kate Garraway and viewers are furious

ITV Good Morning Britain viewers spotted the awkward moment between the presenters.

Good Morning Britain viewers have been left furious after Richard Madeley appeared to "shut down" Kate Garraway.

The presenters, who are hosting today's early morning programme (Tuesday 21 October), were interviewing a woman who is a victim of a grooming gang and has quit the liaison panel.

Victims of grooming gangs say they are "being silenced" and a planned national inquiry into the scandal is being "watered down", warning that more women could follow by quitting.

During the sensitive interview however, viewers noticed several instances of the presenters speaking over each other.

At one point, Kate and Richard tried to both ask questions with the latter shutting the Celebrity Traitors star down so he could put his point across first, leaving viewers furious.

"Too much talking over each other !! Frustrating to watch," one fan fumed.

Another wrote: "how rude is Richard just butting in every time kate speaks in a interview it drives me crazy. I hope he says sorry to her."

A third said: "I Am in shock. Madeley just shut Kate Garraway down!"

Someone else wrote: "Kate has now reached boiling point at being interrupted for a second time."

When one person took Richard's side, writing, "Kate STOP interrupting Richard, this is flowing....," another commented: "Other way around."

"Stop interrupting the woman," another wrote.

The interview saw abuse survivor Ellie Reynolds speak out after resigning from the grooming gangs inquiry panel.

She told Kate and Richard: "The tipping point was a variety of things, the feeling of being gaslit and manipulated when you're in a panel that's meant to explore the truth and bringing justice to the country was one of the priorities for me."

She added: "It's not a nice feeling to feel controlled after you've spent so many years surviving a grooming gang where you were controlled, to then be controlled by the government."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
