Netflix released the highly-anticipated trailer for season three of Heartstopper on Tuesday (September 17) and fans have been going into overdrive with their reactions on social media.
The trailer opens with Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) listening to music on a beach before Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) comes over and gently pokes him in the face.
A voiceover that is a mash-up of many of the show's characters begins: "Sixteen is when nothing makes sense anymore. Starting sixth form and thinking about uni options, and it's all just... a lot."
During the nearly three-minute trailer, darker storylines are teased, with Charlie's mental health being at the forefront along with a storyline around gender dysphoria.
Since the trailer was released, beloved fans have been flocking to social media to share their reactions and it looks like they're feeling all kinds of emotions.
One person reacted: "I'm giggling, I'm sobbing, I'm smiling, I'm proud of them all... I'm feeling everything rn." (sic)
Another viewer agreed as they wrote: "How have I just started feeling like 10 emotions at once FROM A TRAILER." (sic)
Somebody else expressed: "The switch up from happy to sad, and then happy again in just 2 mins made me go through the five stages of grief. But I'm still gonna watch it even if I ball my eyes out."
Yet another penned: "This season is gonna be a roller coaster of emotions. I'm crying now and THIS IS THE TRAILER."
A fifth commented on YouTube: "The way I went from squealling, to screaming, to tearing up and then squealing AGAIN I'm so ready and not ready at the same time."
While a sixth added: "Oh ok so basically this season is going to destroy me but also make me wanna scream and jump around my room in happiness."
The second season aired back in August 2023 and since it's been more than a year since the last instalment, fans have been eagerly anticipating the return of their favourite show.
Ever since it began back in 2022, the show has received critical acclaim for its portrayal of LGBTQ people.
It went on to receive nine nominations and five wins for the inaugural ceremony of the Children's and Family Emmy Awards.
