House of the Dragon fans spot 'fantastic' detail missed when they first watched

House of the Dragon fans have been left stunned after realising that Prince Aemond Targaryen was in fact mocking Larys 'The Clubfoot' Strong during a tense scene

The second season of HBO's House of the Dragon may have wrapped up, but that hasn't stopped die-hard fans from diving back into the acclaimed series to unearth more hidden gems.

A recently surfaced clip on social media has reignited interest, showcasing a charged confrontation between Aemond Targaryen and Larys 'The Clubfoot' Strong. In the seventh episode, aptly named The Red Sowing, we see Aemond basking in his newfound authority as Prince Regent, while King Aegon's health deteriorates following his accident.

In a pivotal scene, Larys receives word of a new dragon rider sighting and is questioned about whether to bring this to the council's attention. Choosing to ignore the report, he dismisses it as implausible and glances out over the courtyard of King's Landing, where Aemond is briefing his guards.

While the content of the Prince Regent's speech remains unknown, his reaction upon noticing Larys' gaze is unmistakable. With a sly grin, Aemond cruelly imitates Larys' clubfoot affliction, an act of mockery and intimidation that initially went unnoticed by many viewers when the episode first aired on 28th July.

However, sharp-eyed fans didn't miss the detail during their rewatch of the Game of Thrones prequel. Taking to Reddit, one user pointed out: "Guys this motherf***er was mocking Larys here, look at the leg twist."

This revelation sparked a flurry of responses as many admitted they had missed the deliberate taunt, and they were quick to express their newfound admiration for the subtle storytelling.

One person commented: "That definitely looks too intentional to be a coincidence. God damn I love this! " Another enthused: "Turning hating into an art form here."

A third chimed in with a witty observation: "Aemond is too precise to put a foot wrong and not have it be on purpose. This is the man who levitates onto horses while maintaining his L'Oreal hair."

The clip was also shared on Threads, where it was met with similar enthusiasm. One commenter wrote: "He's making fun of strongs club foot! " whereas another expressed surprise: "I missed that wowwwww! " A thrilled fan praised: "Fantastic detail! Can't believe we all missed it."

In related news, it was announced earlier this month that the Game of Thrones prequel will conclude with its fourth season. The follow-up series is set to begin production in early 2025.
