Hugh Jackman dramatically transforms for emotional new film with Hollywood royalty
The official trailer for upcoming movie Song Sung Blue has been released, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson
A new musical drama starring Hugh Jackman is coming to cinemas in early 2026, and the actor looks unrecognisable in the official trailer.
Song Sung Blue is an upcoming American biographical drama which sees Hugh star opposite Kate Hudson. The two Hollywood stars portray couple Mike and Claire Sardina.
In the trailer, Hugh can be seen sporting long hair and a clean shaven face, making him look worlds away from his usual look. The Wolverine star can also be seen with long side burns.
Song Sung Blue, based on the 2008 documentary of the same name by Greg Kohs, sees Mike and Claire form a Neil Diamond tribute band, called Lighting & Thunder, which leads to them experiencing "personal fulfilment" while developing a romantic relationship.
The cast is also made up of Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens and Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir and Hudson Hilbert Hensley.
The official trailer for Song Sung Blue was released on 12th September, ahead of the film's scheduled premiere at the AFI Film Festival in October. The movie will be released in America on 25th December, before landing in UK cinemas in January 2026.
Fans have already been sharing their excitement ahead of Song Sung Blue's release, with one commenting on the trailer: "Cannot wait for this movie!" while a second added: "Looks promising."
Over on Hugh's Instagram, he shared a preview of the movie along with the caption: "This is a love story. This is a film about second chances, family, hardship, great love and chasing your dreams. This film is a Christmas gift (with popcorn). This is @songsungbluefilm @katehudson @mybrewtube #christmasday."
His fans were quick to comment on his new look, with one saying: "THE LONG HAIR GIVING VAN HELSING VIBES," while another penned: "Oh! New style! I like it!"
A third fan of the star commented: "Hugh Jackman new look just wow," and someone else agreed: "Hugh in long hair? OMG yes."
Filming kicked off in New Jersey last year and eventually wrapped in December, with Amy Vincent being the cinematographer while Craig Brewer directed.
The film is based on the real-life story of a married couple who rose to fame in their hometown after forming a band paying tribute to 70s icon Neil.
Mike was known for impersonating the hitmaker while Claire performed as US country star Patsy Cline. The pair never made it big away from their hometown, but did once support Pearl Jam.
