Kim Kardashian reveals 'my dad discouraged me from being a lawyer'

Kim Kardashian's father Robert Kardashian - who died in 2003 - wasn't sure that being a lawyer was the right career path for her

Kim Kardashian has revealed her late dad discouraged from her following in his footsteps and becoming a lawyer.

Reality TV star Kim passed the California 'baby bar' law exam in 2021 and earlier this year she graduated from her four-year legal study programme.

But she has now admitted that her dad Robert Kardashian - who was part of OJ Simpson's defence team for his 1995 murder trial - wasn't sure that it was for her.

"I was always the kid, especially during high-profile cases, I was like up in his office going through all the crime scene photos and doing all the things I shouldn't be doing and looking at, and I'd always get in trouble," she said during a press conference ahead of her new legal drama, All's Fair.

"So, he knew that I was really interested and gave me a lot of advice on the journey of being a lawyer. And he actually discouraged me from being a lawyer. He said, 'I know my baby girl. It's going to stress you out way too much. This isn't the field you really want to be in'."

However, Kim said she thought her dad - who died in 2003 after being diagnosed with oesophageal cancer - "would be so proud and so happy and would have been like my best study buddy and fully helped me through this process."

"We had laughs about it," added Kim. "I'm sure he was joking. I think he never thought I would take the journey of really going to law school."

The SKIMS founder, 44, added that her dad's career was "a huge influence" in her wanting to be a lawyer.

"So, it's fun to be able to play that on TV now and connect that with real life women like family law attorneys that I've worked with, who I respect," she explained.

"And the ultimate goal is really for the women that we're playing, these lawyers that are helping people every week to really uplift them and make them feel like they're not alone in this process.

"And so I'm inspired not only by my dad, but also by female attorneys that I've worked with more recently."

Kim was speaking at a press conference for All's Fair which airs on Disney+ from November 4
