The stars of Loose Women were 'quite surprised' by what the Palace had to say when approached for comment on Prince Andrew.

The disgraced royal, 65, gave up his titles in disgrace following a "close consultation" with hsi brother, King Charles and his nephew, Prince William last week, and the lunchtime ladies had royal expert Jennie Bond, 75, on as a guest to discuss the whole scandal during Wednesday's edition of the ITV chat show.

Andrew made the announcement on Friday where he also shared he would give up the Order of the Garter title. He become further engulfed in the case of the late Virginia Giuffre who claimed to have been trafficked by infamous paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, reports The Sun. Andrew has always denied any wrong doing.

It comes after the outlet reported Andrew had told the late Epstein "we'll play some more" in an email that referenced Virginia, which indicated he had spoken to the paedophile after he claimed to have cut off contact with him. Prince Andrew denies all the allegations.

Anchor Jane Moore began: "I'm quite surprised by this. [They have said] We do not act for Prince Andrew in any way, so this is not the appropriate organisation to approach for comment." Jane was joined on the panel by singers Myleene Klass and Kelle Bryan, as well as ex-Eastenders star Nadia Sawalha, who admitted: "Have you ever heard anything like that? I find that really shocking!"

Jennie reasoned: "They've said for a long time they don't speak for Andrew," but Jane cut in: "But that's quite...that's one way of saying we don't speak for him, that is very..." as Jennie took in a breath and pushed the air in front of her, as if she was suggesting that the royal family don't want to deal with the situation at all.

Just moments before, former I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Jennie, compared the whole scandal to the death of Princess Diana, who was killed in a car crash in 1997 at the age of 36, in terms of what it could mean as a 'huge crisis' for the monarchy.

She said: "We are on day five now, it's been relentless and it is a huge crisis for the monarchy, even as bad as Diana's death, as tragic that was, this is such a sordid tale and I know that Andrew has denied all the accusations.

"We are talking about a sex ring that abused children and young girls and Andrew is known to be a friend of that paedophile, whatever else, he was a friend and he lied publicly about how long that went on."

"I think if he has a shred of decency or dignity left, he should just go to the American authorities. He doesn't have to do it publicly, can do it via video link or email or whatever and say 'I was there, this is what I saw and I want to help.'"

"He protests his innocence again and again, he is digging his heels in on that just as he is about Royal Lodge. I think there's more to come because these emails are being trawled through the United States, that's one reason the king has taken the step he has, which is to force his brother to relinquish his titles. He has not given them up willingly, I guarantee you that."

Andrew will not attend family celebrations for Christmas this year at Sandringham. Andrew said in a statement: "In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.

I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.

"With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.

"Andrew's downfall began after his close relationship with Epstein came to light. His email to Epstein was sent on February 29, 2011, after the billionaire paedophile had been convicted of procuring a child for prostitution in 2008.
