NCIS: Origins star 'confirms' Lala's fate as he lets slip huge spoiler ahead of season 2 premiere

NCIS: Origins star Austin Stowell has seemingly confirmed the fate of one of the show's most beloved characters ahead of the season two premiere

NCIS: Origins star Austin Stowell seems to have accidentally revealed the destiny of one of the programme's most beloved characters before the upcoming series.

The hit NCIS prequel broadcasts on CBS and Paramount+ and is set to make its return for the second series tonight (Tuesday, 14th October).

As anticipation builds for the new series, Stowell, who plays a younger incarnation of team leader Leroy Gibbs, caught up with flagship star Wilmer Valderrama to hint at the franchise's next instalment.

For those requiring a reminder, Origins' first series finale concluded with a shocking cliffhanger where Gibbs' partner Cecilia 'Lala' Dominguez (portrayed by Mariel Molino) tried to reconnect with him to share some positive news.

She had successfully persuaded investigator Lara Macy (Claire Berger) not to apprehend Gibbs regarding the killing of Pedro Hernandez (George Paez), who murdered his wife and child, reports the Mirror US.

Yet, before reaching him, a young pedestrian dashed in front of Lala's Jeep.

She veered in the nick of time to rescue the child, but brutally rolled her vehicle multiple times, leaving her fate uncertain.

During a recent conversation with TVLine, Stowell might have accidentally disclosed that Lala survived the horrific incident as she'll return in some capacity for series two.

"Lala will be back in some capacity," he disclosed.

"She went through a terrible accident and anybody who would go through something like that, there are going to be adjustments and baby steps coming back into the workplace."

Whilst numerous fans were anxiously waiting to discover whether Lala would be written out next series, there's a strong possibility she survived after all, though potentially with some severe injuries.

Audiences might witness actress Molino taking on a guest role this time round, popping up in episodes sporadically whilst the agent recuperates.

Regrettably, when pushed for more details, Stowell appears to recognise he's revealed too much, whilst Valderrama clarifies they're discussing matters "hypothetically".

"Technically, until an episode airs, we haven't really confirmed whether she made it or not," he added.

Despite the mysterious remarks, fans should certainly remain hopeful as Stowell has also insisted that Gibbs and Lala's storyline is nowhere near finished.

"I don't think that Lala and Gibbs' story is done," he teased. "I think we need to see that through, not just leave it with an accident."
