Who is in Netflix's The Age of Innocence cast? From The Witcher star to Suits legend

The new period drama centres on a scandalous love triangle

Netflix's forthcoming period drama is set to star a host of familiar faces.

Based on Edith Wharton’s novel of the same name, The Age of Innocence is described as a "delicious portrait of forbidden love and lust in Gilded Age New York society."

It follows a scandalous love triangle between respected gentleman Newland Archer, his fiancée May Welland and her newly-divorced cousin Ellen Olenska.

The book made history when it earned Wharton the first Pulitzer Prize for Fiction awarded to a woman.

Now, over 100 years since it was first published in 1920, the story is being brought to our screens by writer Emma Frost and director Shannon Murphy.

But who are the actors set to bring its characters to life?

Kristine Froseth as May Welland

Kristine Froseth is no stranger to Wharton's stories or heated love triangles.

The American-Norwegian actress is widely known for starring in Apple TV's adaptation of Wharton's final novel, The Buccaneers.

She stars as Nan St. George, a young American woman who moves to London alongside her friends. Nan later finds herself torn between pursuing a relationship with a Duke and his close friend.

Before playing Nan, Froseth had starred in Netflix's Sierra Burgess is a Loser, Hulu's Looking For Alaska and American Horror Story - to name a few.

In The Age of Innocence, Froseth takes on the role of May, who is described as "a religious rule follower and a believer in the status quo, but not without a rebellious streak."

Camila Morrone as Ellen Olenska

Camila Morrone stars as Froseth's cousin and romance rival Ellen Olenska.

The divorcee is "a free spirit who is playful, smart, and strong-willed, yet carries conflict and guilt surrounding her new position in society."

Morrone is also known for her role in a popular book-to-screen adaptation, Prime Video's Daisy Jones and The Six. She stars in the Emmy-winning drama as Camila Dunne, the wife of rockstar Billy (played by Sam Claflin).

The 28-year-old actress has also starred James Franco's 2013 biopic Bukowski, inspired by the German-born poet's life.

She is additionally set to lead the cast in Netflix's upcoming horror series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, alongside The White Lotus actor Adam DiMarco.

Ben Radcliffe as Newland Archer

English actor Ben Radcliffe plays leading man Newland Archer, who is "a handsome, progressive, and intelligent society gentleman."

Radcliffe recently shared the screen with Austin Butler and Callum Turner in Apple TV's Masters of the Air.

Netflix viewers will also recognise the 27-year-old actor as Giselher from the hit fantasy series The Witcher.

Arguably the most recognisable name on this list, three-time Emmy winner Margo Martindale portrays May and Ellis' grandmother, Mrs. Manson-Mingott.

Martindale has recently starred in a number of hit shows, including Prime Video's crime comedy The Sticky, and ABC's Doctor Odyssey.

However, viewers may have forgotten that the actress was also featured in a season two episode of Suits, in which she played Nurse Nell Sawyer.
