Rings of Power knocked from Amazon Prime top spot by ‘phenomenal’ new show
The Rings of Power might have been enjoying the number one spot on Amazon Prime Video’s top 10 list, but now a new show is in town.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has finally been dethroned from its number one placement on Amazon Prime Video’s top 10 list.
It seems a new contender has surpassed it, with plenty of sports fans tuning in to watch the immediately popular docuseries, Evolution of the Black Quarterback.
This news will come as a surprise to some fans of the series inspired by the works of J. R. R. Tolkien, as the show is still airing.
With the first seven episodes available on Amazon Prime, the season two finale (Episode 8, title TBC) will drop this Thursday, October 3.
According to Forbes, however, the Lord of the Rings show has dropped down to #2 on Amazon Prime US behind the surprising new series, Evolution of the Black Quarterback, which is already causing a stir online.
The three-part documentary, hosted by Michael Vick, takes a closer look at black quarterbacks in the NFL.
The synopsis reads: “In celebration of how Black quarterbacks have changed the game of professional football, Michael Vick travels across America learning about the pioneers who fought for acceptance, the players who cemented their spot, and what the future of the game can hold.
“Connecting with stars like Patrick Mahomes, Cam Newton, Steve Young, Common, Andy Reid, and Jamie Foxx.”
Viewers have already taken to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to share their reactions to the new series.

TV lovers can get 30 days' free access to tantalising TV like The Boys, Reacher and Clarkson's Farm by signing up to Amazon Prime. Just remember to cancel at the end and you won't be charged.
One person tweeted: “@MichaelVick Salute. Evolution of the Black Quarterback is phenomenal.” (sic)
A second penned: “I'm watching the Evolution of the black quarterback on Amazon...Mike Vick did such a good job.”
“The Evolution of the Black Quarterback is so dope,” another wrote, while a fourth added: “Started watching Evolution of the Black Quarterback. Great docuseries.”
One more enthused: “The Evolution of the Black Quarterback doc is soooo good. I’m watching and am so marveled. The storytelling is top tier.” (sic)
Meanwhile, Rings of Power has drawn some controversy over its run, but while viewership remains solid, Amazon is pushing ahead with its five-season plan for the show.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Evolution of the Black Quarterback are both available to stream now on Amazon Prime.
