Disney+ drops musical comedy perfect for K-Pop Demon Hunters fans
The new sitcom follows the rise of a mega-famous pop band.

Disney+ is now streaming a musical comedy that has been compared to Netflix's K-Pop Demon Hunters.
First aired on Disney Channel, Electric Bloom is a coming-of-age series following the rise of a three-piece girl band, who met in high school.
The official synopsis reads: "Electric Bloom follows the three members of the now mega-famous pop group, Electric Bloom, as they look back and tell the story of their band and friendship, starting with the day they all met in high school.
"The girls go on a journey to becoming the biggest band in the world and the best friends in the universe."
The comedy is fronted by rising stars Carmen B. Sanchez, Lumi Pollack and Ruby Marino, who play the titular girl group.
Behind the scenes, the sitcom boasts seasoned sitcom stars. Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel is among the directors, alongside Robbie Countryman, who is best known for his work on hit sitcom Melissa and Joey.
As the series has only just landed on streaming, there are very few reviews online, but those who have already caught it have shared glowing recommendations.
Taking to IMDb, one fan wrote: "Electric Bloom is my favourite tv show...I love the music and the songs. I like all the characters from the show and the show is so funny and hilarious. I have to say that this show is awesome compared to the other Disney Channel shows."
The same fan went on to share hopes that the series would "go on for years".
A second echoed the praise, stating: "I love the songs they made and how they became friends, and their music. I like bands and their members it just feels like [watching] a life story but in the process."
Meanwhile, viewers on social media have noted the show's similarities to K-Pop Demon Hunters. "Electric Bloom just reminds me of K-Pop Demon Hunters right now," said one.
However, others have pointed out that the Disney series is only similar to the Netflix film because of its musical focus, but it actually "feels more like Hannah Montana".
