Strictly Come Dancing fans left fuming over huge change on BBC show

Strictly Come Dancing fans are not happy after the BBC show's results episode aired a completely different format as Tom Skinner and Amy Dowden were sent home

Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left fuming by a new format change on the BBC show. The programme was back for its first results show of the series, which saw two couples land in the bottom two.

It was between Thomas Skinner and Amy Dowden, who performed their Salsa to Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal and Chris Robshaw and Nadiya Bychkova performed their Viennese Waltz to Die With A Smile.

However, fans were left fuming with the new twist, which saw four celebrities be put at risk of ending up in the dance-off. On Sunday night, it was Gladiators star Harry and Neighbours actor Stefan who were also at risk.

Once it was announced Tom and Chris would be in the dance-off, fans took to social media to slam the new format.

"Looks like they're about to play multiplayer Mario Kart," one wrote. A second added: "Ruining a 20-year format. Stefan and Harry didn’t get to speak to Claudia, thank people for voting for them, find out what dance they're doing next week. Utter shambles. If it ain't broke... #Strictly." A third shared: "there used to be only two couples in the bottom two now there’s four."

However, one fan noted a positive about it, sharing: "The upside is the two couples in the bottom get equal amount of time to mentally prepare for the dance off."

After the dance-off, it was time for Tom Skinner to head home. Speaking about his time on the show, Thomas said: "I’ve loved it. I’ve never danced before and my stay was short, but Amy’s amazing.

"It's been great fun and I've enjoyed it. I can’t really dance that well but I’ve had fun! Thank you, Amy - sorry that we haven’t done too good, ‘cause you’re a different class."

Amy then added: "I’ve got to know the real Tom, and he is adorable. He’s looked after me. We’ve laughed so much. We’ve worked so hard and a glitterball would have been amazing but what I’ve learnt in the last few years is happiness, health and being alive is more important than anything. I’ve made a new friend for life and I wouldn’t change a thing.

"There is a Ballroom boy in there so I’m a bit gutted he didn’t get to do the Ballroom, but the last three years as you know have been quite difficult for me. I lost all confidence as a dancer - but walking into the room with you with a massive smile and a laugh, you brought me back and, honestly, thank you."
