Strictly Come Dancing's Stefan Dennis rushed to hospital in horrifying health battle

Stefan Dennis has broken his silence on his return to the BBC dancefloor after falling ill last week that forced him to miss out of performing last week

Stefan Dennis is set to return to Strictly Come Dancing this week after being forced to miss out on last week's show due to illness. The star had suffered from a bout of vertigo but after seeking immediate medical attention and a week to recover, he is now back and ready to impress the judges with his performance of the Charleston.

The 66 year old actor, who is best known for playing the ruthless businessman in Australian soap Neighbours, appeared on the Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two.

When asked by host Fleur East what happened to cause his absence he replied: "I had a little bit of a turn, a little bit of an episode of vertigo. It was all ok made myself alright again with the help of some good people at the hospital. I've got to say to everybody out there, thank you for all the lovely well wishes."

And his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell added: "It was so amazing to watch everyone [during last week's show] and not have the nerves of Saturday night but I missed Stefan and I couldn't wait for him to be back with me."

And on his return, the TV actor admitted to feeling as though he is being thrown in at the deep end with his upcoming routine. The couple are dancing the Charleston which he claimed his incredibly fast-paced and "technical."

And this may explain why he jokingly told Fleur he felt as if it was a case of "there you go Stef, are you ok, boom." He added: "Its a wee bit faster and a hell of a lot more technical than I thought. This routine is absolutely packed isn't jam packed."

Both Dianne and Stefan are playing out the role of Bonnie and Clyde, the infamous couple who robbed banks for a living and amassed a number of murders and kidnappings under their belt, during their outlaw hey days between 1932 and 1934.

Last week, Strictly bosses were left with no other option than to announce that Stefan would have to pull out of the BBC show, due to falling ill.

Taking to their official Instagram page, production staff wrote: "Due to illness over the past few days, Stefan Dennis has been advised by doctors to rest and , as a result, he will not dance this weekend. In lines with the rules of Strictly, Stefan and Dianne will receive a bye through to next week when they will hopefully be able to dance again."

And Dianne immediately commented and said: "Sending all my Aussie love steffo. I know how much you wanted to dance!"

And judge Motsi Mabuse also penned her well wishes, saying: "Get well soon."
