Trigger Point's Vicky McClure 'so emotional' as she teases 'explosive' new series

This month, ITV viewers will see a brand-new series of Trigger Point as Expo Lana Washington and the team return to screens.

Since 2022, Trigger Point has been a firm favourite with ITV viewers as the gripping show follows a bomb-disposal team led by Lana Washington (played by Vicky McClure).

Last year, the second series was the second most-watched drama on ITV1, with an average of 8.1million viewers and 30 million streams on ITVX.

Now, there's good news for fans of the show as six more episodes are on the horizon as series three begins on October 26 as the expo team discovers that one person has a sinister vendetta and is targeting individuals, demanding revenge.

Earlier this month, people were treated to a glimpse of what's to come in series three as ITV released a teaser trailer, showing Lana and the team thrown into nerve-shredding action.

Ahead of the new series, actress Vicky McClure spoke to press including Reach Plc as she hinted there's some tense scenes on the way for viewers.

When asked what viewers can expect for Lana and the team this time around, the actress said: "You can expect your Sunday nights now to be filled with utter-triggerverse gold!

"It's brilliant, we've got some incredible new actors in the show as well which I think you're going to really enjoy their performances.

"The team is back, we're more connected than ever, the explosive moments are coming thick and fast. You'll see me running a lot, which is rare.

"I just know that people are going to go, 'wow'. I mean, even from the trailer that we've put out. I'm really happy to brag about it, which is a rarity.

"But, I feel like everyone has worked so hard and done such an amazing job, I want to shout about it and go, 'Yeah, I'm really proud of it, I'm really proud of what everyone has done.' I think we've made a banging show, so enjoy."

While speaking about filming this series over nine months, Vicky shared that everyone knew it would be hard work.

The actress explained that when she was speaking to the bosses, she expressed her only wish was for it to be a happy set.

She added: "I know that's easier said than done, but that was the attitude that absolutely every single person went into this job on. For everybody, which was a large portion of the crew, who travelled from series three into series four, it's been-

"I mean, I was so emotional on the last day last week because everybody came together. Usually, quite understandably, there are departments.

"That department sticks to that department, and that department sticks with that department; we just became one big department. Cameras were helping costume and facilities are sorting out stuff with caterers.

"It was just one of those moments where everything gelled, everything clicked, and everybody got on. It was all about the work and all about having a nice time, everyone looked after everyone, it was great."

There's more good news for fans of the show as series four has already been confirmed.

Trigger Point Season 3 premieres Sunday, October 26 2025 at 9pm on ITV1 and STV, with the full series available to stream on ITVX and STV Player.
