Unheard of Leonardo DiCaprio film secures place in his top 10 best ever

Leonjson DiCaprio has had countless hits throughout his career, from Titanic to The Revenant, but it's one of his lesser-known movies that has topped the list on Rotten Tomatoes

Rotten Tomatoes has compiled a list of all Leonardo DiCaprio's films, ranking them based on viewer ratings, and the top 10 is quite unexpected, to put it mildly.

According to genuine fan reviews, the Hollywood actor's highest-rated film turned out to be the 2002 hit Catch Me if You Can, but what other films made the cut?

Cinema enthusiasts might be taken aback to find this overlooked gem, featuring a youthful DiCaprio, at number 10, surpassing some of his most iconic roles.

The 1996 film Marvin's Room boasts an impressive 84% score with over 400 reviews. This meant it outranked the highly acclaimed Wolf of Wall Street, where DiCaprio starred alongside Margot Robbie, portraying Jordan Belfort, a businessman consumed by wealth.

Marvin's Room showcases a stellar cast including a young, promising DiCaprio, who was around 21 at the time of filming. Sharing the screen with him are Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro and Hume Cronyn, reports the Irish Star.

In fact, Keaton's performance in the film earned her an Academy Award nomination.

In a tale of sisterly bonds, Bessie, portrayed by Keaton, and Lee, played by Streep, are two estranged sisters who haven't communicated for nearly 20 years. Their contrasting personalities and life paths have kept them apart, but a shocking health revelation is set to alter everything.

One sister remained to look after their bed-bound father, while the other relocated to Ohio to start her own family. It's only when Bessie is diagnosed with leukaemia that they reunite.

Her doctor has told her she needs a bone marrow transplant, leading to an unexpected family gathering.

A review on Rotten Tomatoes states: "This was such a compelling movie with great acting and storyline. I'd never heard of this one, but I'm so glad I watched it. There are some intense scenes, and it is a tearjerker. Meryl Streep was superb as usual, and I was very impressed with Diane Keaton as well. It's definitely worth the watch.

Another viewer commented: "Presence of the two Oscar-winning actresses is great. Their convincing performances spark and create strong strains in the introductory scene that the two sisters see each other again after 20 years of estrangement.

"Meryl was 47 and Diane was 50 when the movie was released. Leonard was only 22.

I believe the young actor has received significant influences from distinguished actors under the circumstances like this as I watch his recent performances."

For those keen to see a young DiCaprio in one of his most underrated film roles, Marvin's Room is available for rent on both Apple TV and Amazon Prime.
