Who dies in The Girlfriend?
The Girlfriend follows a rivalry between a mother and her son's new partner.
The Girlfriend is on Prime Video and the hit thriller series stars Olivia Cooke as Cherry Laine and Robin Wright as Laura Sanderson.
Laura has an extremely close bond with her son Daniel (Laurie Davidson), so she immediately feels threatened by his new girlfriend, Cherry.
The more she discovers about Cherry and her dark past, the more Laura feels her relationship with her son is waning.
When Cherry finds out Laura has been digging into her family history, she threatens her mother-in-law on numerous occasions.
It became clear the pair would fight to the death when it came to Daniel, but who tragically lost their life and what happened at the end?

In the final moments of The Girlfriend, Laura made one last attempt to reveal the truth about Cherry to Daniel.
After drugging him, she tried to play him the recording of Cherry's mum admitting how Cherry had nearly killed her own father.
However, Cherry managed to get inside the house and a fight broke out between Laura and Cherry, which resulted in them both falling into the pool.
When Daniel started to gain consciousness, he discovered them both in the pool and jumped in to save Cherry from his mother.
Yet he went too far and in doing so, he drowned Laura, killing his own mother in a tragic turn of events.
Earlier on in the series, fans wondered whether Daniel had died following his accident during a rock climbing trip with Cherry.
After the fall, doctors told Laura her son probably wouldn't make it due to his injuries, and they gave Laura a chance to say goodbye.
However, Daniel made a miraculous recovery, yet Laura continued to follow the narrative that her son had died as to keep Cherry away from the family.
She lied to Cherry about having a private funeral for Daniel, when in reality she had whisked her son off to Spain so that he would not bump into Cherry again.
