Yellowjackets star in cast of chilling new plane crash drama with Hollywood icon

The series follows a US Marshal in the outskirts of Alaska.

A new 10-part thriller is arriving on Apple TV+ soon and it stars some huge names including Yellowjackets actress, Simone Kessell.

Known for playing Lottie Matthews in the popular series, she is now starring alongside the likes of Hollywood icons Jason Clarke and Dominic Cooper.

Kessell will be playing Sarah Remnick in the upcoming Apple series, The Last Frontier, which will be released on October 10.

Jason Clarke stars as Frank Remnick, the US Marshal who must protect his town while he investigates the prison transport plane crash that set free multiple fugitives.

Cooper plays Havlock in the series, which sees dozens of violent inmates set free.

After the double-bill premiere, new episodes will air every Friday through to the finale on December 5.

The synopsis reads: "Remnick’s jurisdiction is turned upside down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates.

"Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching and devastating implications."

The ensemble cast includes Haley Bennett, Dallas Goldtooth and Tait Blum, with Academy Award Nominee and multi-Emmy Award winner Alfre Woodard.

Although the story is set in Alaska, the filming did not take place there.

The production used locations in Canada, mainly in Quebec and Alberta, to recreate the look and feel of remote Alaska.

Filming began in Montreal in February 2024 and a large part of the series was shot there.

The series has already been hailed "the wildest new show of the Fall" by wi-fiplanet, who added: "It looks like a full-blown action movie stretched into a bingeable series."

The Last Frontier airs on October 10 on Apple TV+
