Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man plot, cast, episode count, trailer as new Marvel series comes to Disney+

The new Marvel show's animation style is inspired by the classic Spider-Man comics

The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe series is set to be released next week on Disney+.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is set in a parallel timeline to the MCU where Norman Osborn — the alter ego of his nemesis, the Green Goblin — mentors Peter instead of Tony Stark.

The show's animation style is inspired by the classic Spider-Man comics and its trailer even paid homage to the original Spider-Man theme from 1967.

This is everything you need to know about Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man including the plot, who appears in the series and its release schedule.

What is the plot of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man?

A brief plot synopsis from Disney+ reads: "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is an animated series that follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we've ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots."

The animated series will tell Peter’s story in a different timeline to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe and prior to the events of Captain America: Civil War.

In this timeline, Norman Osborn (Colman Domingo) serves as Peter’s mentor. With his alter-ego being the Green Goblin, can we really trust him and how does this change Spider-Man's backstory?

The show also features Peter Parker in a range of new special suits and new characters different from the main MCU.

The head writer is Jeff Trammell and Mel Zwyer is the supervising director. Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt and Trammell serve as executive producers.
