Titanic: Honor and Glory

Titanic: Honor and Glory is a group of leading Titanic researchers, artists, and enthusiasts attempting to virtually recreate the RMS Titanic, primarily in Unreal Engine 5. Thanks to the support of their Patrons, the team does this through detailed deck plans, animation,s and explorable virtual museums.Under the umbrella of "THG," we are currently working on two major virtual projects:Our namesake project, Titanic: Honor and Glory, aims to re-create the entire Titanic inside and out, from the hull and promenades to every saloon, boiler room, and cabin. The ship will be fully explorable in a rich and detailed 3D environment with the highest level of accuracy possible. This recreation sits underneath our virtual Arrol Gantry at our Harland &amp; Wolff shipyard. Once construction is further along, we hope to open the shipyard to the community. The end goal for this project is, as it always as been, to recreate TITANIC in her entirety.Titanic: Project 401 is our attempt to give our community what they deserve: a TITANIC recreation in the short term that represents over 10 years of incredible work. We have proven this is not an easy task! We created P401, which enables us to refine and release all the work we've developed over the last decade. It will feature 50% of the ship and include incredible historical features, making it the ultimate virtual Titanic museum one could ask for. This allows us to pour our perfectionist mindset into THG while P401 can be developed with a more traditional video-game-like urgency.Think of them as short-term and long-term Titanic recreations!&nbsp;WILL YOUR PROJECTS RELEASE ON PC OR CONSOLES?We are developing THG and P401 for release on PC and in Virtual Reality. There are currently no plans to develop a console version.&nbsp;WILL YOUR PROJECTS RELEASE ON MAC?Some Mac products struggle with highly detailed experiences like ours, so unfortunately, we do not plan to develop a Mac version at this time.WILL ANY OF YOUR PROJECTS BE AVAILABLE ON STEAM?Yes! Both of our projects will be released in VR!WILL MY COMPUTER RUN YOUR PROJECTS? / I CAN’T GET YOUR PROJECT TO WORK!Check the minimum system requirements for our last Demo and compare them to your system:<ul><li>GPU with DirectX12 support</li><li>Dual core CPU</li><li>8GB of RAM</li><li>GPU with 4GB of Video Memory*</li><li>45GB of free disk space</li></ul>*Note that 1st Class requires approximately 7GB of RAM and VRAM. VRAM is shared with system memory, so it is possible to run 1st class with a GPU that only has 4GB of VRAM, as long as you have at least 12GB of RAM.MY COMPUTER SAYS “DIRECTX 12 IS NOT SUPPORTED ON YOUR SYSTEM”There are three potential issues here:<ol><li>Your GPU drivers are outdated. It is for this reason that we do not feel as though we are developing Titanic “games.” We instead think of our work as historical recreations or virtual museums. “Gameplay,” as it is known in the industry, will be immersive and center around the beauty of the ship and the stories of her passengers and crew.&nbsp;HOW ACCURATE WILL TITANIC BE?We have a dedicated research team working on creating our digital Titanic and the world around it with the same level of accuracy as any museum or book.WILL THE SHIP HAVE SHEER?Yes! That is why we have someone “building” Titanic beam by beam. We haven’t started over - we’re creating a proper Titanic model to put all of our older work into the correct size and shape of the ship so things fit. Our old demos were mostly faked to fit and look accurate, but when everything was placed together, it was held together by smoke and mirrors! We need a proper structure to have everything correct.CAN I STEER THE SHIP? CAN I CHANGE THE WEATHER/TIME OF DAY?We have many features planned for both P401 and THG. Our small team has had to adjust and change our scope over the years, but as the release date approaches, we will let you know what's in store for gameplay mechanics.IS THERE A STORY MODE FOR THG?While a story mode was planned some years ago, it was eliminated when we changed our scope. Now, our focus is on creating immersion through the ship and, the stories of her passengers and crew.WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG TO MAKE THESE PROJECTS?We are a small team of volunteers, supported chiefly by a budget provided by our loyal fans. Most video game companies have teams 20 times our size and budgets 10,000 times our size, yet the mission of our project would be a challenge even for those big studios.
