Sub: Short Term Certification Course in Shipbuilding Engineering Indian Shipbuilding Industry is on a high growth path.
But a virtual void exists in the availability of supervisory/technician cadres with knowledge of shipbuilding/shiprepair practices. The Institute of Shipbuilding Technology, Goa, has been the only Institute for last 25 years providing trained manpower to fill this void through its Diploma Programme in Shipbuilding Engineering. About the Institute: ISBT is a Government aided AICTE approved polytechnic in Goa, which is started and managed by Society for Industrial & Technical Education of Goa comprising of leading Shipbuilding Industries in Goa. While the Alumni of this Institute have made a name for themselves, it is realized that the offtake of around 40 diploma holders in a year is just not sufficient to meet the requirement of the industry. One the other hand, the Shipbuilding industry with its present growth rate cannot wait for the 4 year gestation period required for the Diploma Programme. With an aim to resolve this issue, Institute of Shipbuilding Technology, Goa with association with Society for Industrial & Technical Education of Goa has come up with a short term certification course in Shipbuilding Engineering. What will the course cover: The course is designed to arm the participants with basic knowledge of ship e.g. theory of ships, structural requirements, basics of resistance, propulsion, ship motions and seakeeping. The course will enable the participant to read and understand ship drawings and calculations. The participants will become conversant with the procedures followed in practical ship constructions and engineering/machinery/system layouts. At the end of the course the participant shall be confident to work in any field of ship construction e.g. production, planning or quality control. Refer of course curriculum attached herewith
