Integrative Reflection
As I complete my final phase of my pre-teacher education and student teaching, I continuously reflect upon my experiences. Over the course of the past four years, I have greatly developed as a learner, and ultimately, as a special education teacher. Through my classroom and coursework experiences, I have gained vital skills in the field of special education. As a move forward into a career, I look forward to drawing upon my experiences in order to apply best practices in my own classrooms. Data-drive instruction is a crucial component to teaching students. In assessing students, teachers can create instruction that is specifically tailored to students individualized needs. This semester, I have had the opportunity to develop my assessment abilities (Assessment, CC & LBS1, IPTS). Through completing my instructional and behavior intervention programs, I have taken data in an effort to drive my instruction and teaching practices forward (Instructional Program , Managing the Learning Environment). In assessing students performance and monitoring their progress in these programs, I have developed my ability to create instruction that is catered to students present levels of performance. Additionally, I have developed the ability to interpret data in a way that allows me to modify my instruction to promote students toward their goals and objectives. In developing my ability to take, interpret, and utilize assessment data, I have provided my students with the most effective, individualized, and student-centered instruction. Additionally, my experiences in my student teaching placement this semester have allowed me to improve my leadership skills and professional conduct (Professional Conduct & Leadership, CC, LBS1, IPTS). A key component to effective leaders and professionals is collaboration and communication. Through completion of a self-reflection journal, I have been able to reflect on my own abilities to collaborate with and lead a team of teachers and paraprofessionals (Self-Reflection). I analyzed my own abilities to lead and collaborate with others, and created interventions that would help improve my leadership skills and abilities. In reflecting on my own leadership and collaborative behaviors, I have been able to advance my management abilities in a positive and effective manner.

Integrative Reflection
Finally, throughout the course of my pre-teacher education program, I have continually developed my knowledge of and performance in the field of special education. Effective special educators are knowledgeable of the foundations of the field that drive best teaching practices (Foundations, CC, LBS1). The opportunities I have had in both functional and academic school settings have allowed me to develop my instructional abilities, classroom management skills, and behavioral techniques in a way that creates educationally fostering experiences for students. Additionally, I have gained an understanding of the laws and philosophies that provide the groundwork for the field of special education. As a result, I adapt to changes within the field, value professional development, and whole-heartedly advocate for my students needs. In all, great teachers incorporate the knowledge gained from past experiences into future teaching efforts. I am eager to provide my future students with effective and individualized instruction through self-reflection, on-going professional development, and best teaching practices. I am confident in my ability to advocate for my students needs, and provide students with instruction that will promote their overall development.
