First,reenrolltheoldduplicatestudentrecordsothatthereenrollmenttablecontainsallenrollments.Then
inDDA,searchfortheoldstudentIDoneachtablebelowandmodifyittothenewstudentID.(note
studentID,notstudentnumber.StudentIDisfoundonthebottomoftheTeacherCommentsscreen).The
criticaltablesyouwillneedtomodifywillbethefollowing:

Attendance
StoredGrades
PGFinalGrades
Fee
FeeBalance
FeeTransaction
GLDetail(PowerLunch)
HonorRoll
Log
ReEnrollment
SpEnrollments
StandardsGrades
StudentTest

Youdonothavetoupdatethemall,forexampleifyoudonothaveorcareaboutoldPowerLunch
TransactionsorFeesyoucanignoretheGLDetailtableorthevariousfeetables.
OnceyouhaveupdatedallthetablesbysearchingontheoldIDandreplacingitwiththenew,youshould
copyanyofthecustomfieldsthatyouwanttokeepfromtheoldIDsothatyoucanimportthemtothenew
ID.Finally,youshouldgointothestudentstableanddeletetheoldstudentrecord.Thenightlyprocess
shouldgoinandcleanupanyleftoverorphanedrecords.

MakesureifyoumakemodificationsintheDDAthatyouleaveGlobalSyncinAtomicmodeandnotNon
Atomicmode.Afteryourchangesitwouldprobablybeagoodideatoopenupthegradebookforsomeof
theexamplesectionsthestudentisin,tomakesurealloftherecordsarecorrectinthegradebooktables
aswellasthePowerSchooltables.

ButtheQuickLookupforthe'good'studentrecorddoesn'tshowthedroppedclassesandtheQuick
Lookupforthe'invalid'studentrecordstillshowsthedroppedclasses.IhaveresyncedPTwithnochange,
andIhavechangedthesyncmodeandresyncedPTwithnochange.Thecasehasbeenescalated,but
wereallyneedtogetthiscleanedupandnotjustbehangingstrangelyoutinthesystem.

ThereisadiscussiononPowerSourcethatishelpfulregardingthe
mergingofrecordswhenthereare2student_numbersforthesame
student.Itistitled'MergingDuplicateStudentRecords'.
Topreparefordealingwithduplicates,wewentthroughthetablesin
DDEandwherewehadrecords,welookedtoseeifstudentIDwasafield
withinthattable.Ifitwas,weaddedthattablenametoalistof
tables.OncewehadalistofthetableswithstudentID,wewerenow
readytodealwithanyduplicates.
Whenaduplicateisfound,wecheckeachtableinourlisttoseeif
therearerecordsforthestudentwewillbedeletinganddetermineif
theyshouldbemovedtothestudentwewillbekeeping.Ifso,we
changethestudentIDtotheonewewillbekeeping.
Whilethismethodofmergingisn'teasy,itseemstobeclean.

IamtryingtofixduplicateenrollmentsIhave2inoneschool.Apparentlythestudentsweretransferred
fromoneofourschoolsintothecurrentoneandtheadminatthecurrentschoolcreated2newstudents
insteadofacceptingthetransfer!
SoI'mlookingatyourverythoroughinstructionsandamwonderingifyoucouldexpandon
