I.

Introduction

My community is a condominium located at Brgy.719, Malate, Manila. It is


located near the De LaSalle University and Vito Cruz Station. I am a resident of
Burgundy West bay Tower for more than one year. The condominium has a pool in
the rooftop and there is also 4 levels of car park areas.
II.

Economic and Environmental Problems


I observed that burgundy west bay has a good location in terms of business. It
is near to several schools, and also different establishments. It is also near the SM
hypermarket and Harrison Plaza. I observed that there are some problems that might
affect my community. Since there are several schools near my community, there are
many students that live in the burgundy west bay tower.
There are several many pedicabs in the area. I think that one problem in my
community is the pedicab drivers. The pedicab drivers act like they are the king of
the road. They are a menace to the drivers of cars. The pedicab drivers doesnt follow
the traffic rules and they just causes the congestion of cars.
The tricycle drivers in the area are causing problems. I observed that they are
waiting/loading passengers in a non-loading area. This causes traffic in the area.
I also observed the alarming problem of cleanliness in my community. I can
see that some tenants are not very willing to keep the building clean. Sometimes, I
can see few trashes in the hallways and in the elevator. The building uses a chute for
the garbage disposal, and I have observed that some of the tenants are not disciplined
in throwing the garbage properly. Some of them doesnt close the garbage chute after
using it.

III.

Methodology
a.) Conversations/Interviews
I talked to some of the tenants in the building and also some of the security guads.

I asked them about their insights to the pedicab drivers and the problem of proper
waste disposal. I talked to one tenant and also to two security guards. Some of them
are also not happy in the pedicab drivers, they said that the pedicab drivers are
makukulit. The tenant that I talked to is also annoyed with the pedicab drivers, she
also told me that she also feel bad about the improper disposal of some tenants.

IV.

Recommendation
I asked the manager of the building to take interviews with him or his staff
and I also asked them to discuss my recommendation but he refused. He said that he
will be very busy because the school season is coming and there may be several new
tenants.
Nevertheless, I still made recommendations about the problems concerning
my community. I think that the management should assign some of the security
guards to look after the pedicab drivers who are not following the traffic rules and at
least try to talk to them nicely. I also think that the management should also assign
people to place signs in all the garbage chute so that the tenants will not forget to
close the chute and so that they will throw their garbage properly.
