NOTES
SQA Attempts allowed
1. In accordance with IAMI/MCA policy, candidates undertaking SQA examinations are
permitted THREE (3) attempts before refresher training is required. This may be
extended to FOUR (4) attempts under extenuating circumstances, at the discretion of the
examination centre.
2. Refresher training may be undertaken at a venue of the candidates choice. However the
nature and standard of such refresher training must satisfy the requirements of Points 3
and 4 below.
3. Evidence of such refresher training must be provided to LJMU at the time of applying for
4th or 5th attempts. The evidence provided must be capable of verification by LJMU and/or
MCA at their discretion.
4. The nature of the refresher training must be such that it provides the candidate with an
improved likelihood of examination success.
5. The maximum number of SQA attempts permitted at LJMU is FIVE (5).
Application procedure
1. Complete all fields on Page 1, including your signature and date.
2. Send the completed form to the Programme Leader.
3. If your Application qualifies for a resit then it will be authorised by the Programme Leader
and returned to you.
4. Payment of the resit fee must then be made quoting the Code: G264020.
5. The Application form, with receipt of fee paid, must then be returned to the SQA
Administrator (at Department Office of Maritime & Mechanical Engineering, R2.12, Byrom
Street, Liverpool L3 3AF, ENRAdmin@ljmu.ac.uk) for inclusion on the requested exam
diet.

Results notification
You will receive official notification of your results by letter from SQA.
This will be posted to the address which you have supplied on Page 1. Ensure that the
address provided is accurate and neatly written so as to avoid errors or delays.
Should the address provided be outside the United Kingdom then expect a relevant
delay between the release of results and your receipt of the official results notification
letter.
Whilst LJMU may be able to provide you with informal information regarding your results
this must not be regarded as official.
Note that it is NOT the responsibility of LJMU to either provide Candidates with their
results or act as a mail forwarding service.
