District Collectors Internship Programme (DCIP) is a unique programme by
District Administration, Kozhikode in association with the Indian Institute of
Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K) with the objective of tapping the human
resource potential of enterprising individuals from various walks of life, for a
noble cause. A platform for the skilled and zealous to showcase their genius
and help transform Kozhikode into a buzzing utopia. Practically, the idea is to
make people active participants in the process of tackling developmental
challenges faced by the community through an internship in the Public Social
Responsibility wing of Kozhikode district administration. The program also
aims to give interns a direct exposure to the functioning of the Public
System.
The policy initiatives of the Kozhikode District administration have attracted
attention from various corners for their ingenious methods of addressing
and tackling issues affecting the community. DCIP can transform the pace
and class of development, benefiting both society at large and the intern. It is
an avenue for gifted members of the public to actively contribute to shaping
Kozhikode into a city that dreams are made of. The interns with DCIP can
contribute their time, skills and knowledge through voluntary action, and
witness their combined efforts become a significant force for achieving social
welfare and community development. The program is meant to build trust
and reciprocity amongst passionate youngsters by contributing towards more
cohesive public policy initiatives. The interns will be involved in projects that
can be emotionally challenging and will require them to use their expertise
and knowledge contextually. The interns, through their association with the
District Administration, will thus be armed with a deep rooted understanding
of various policy issues and will find themselves developing the ability to
craft the most exquisite solutions to some of the most vexing predicaments.
At the end of the internship journey, what awaits the interns is the promise of
holistic development, a transformation from merely existing to living with
purpose.
DCIP intends to mobilize close to 30 interns to work with the development
projects and the humanitarian endeavours of the district administration. The
program invites applications from individuals with diverse technical as well
as professional skills to contribute
development of a community.
