Students can use blogs and websites to create flipped classroom projects that introduce topics at home before class. Teachers and students can both create blogs to connect learning between school and home. If students only consume information, the learning level is 2, but if they create original content, it rises to level 6. Technology allows learning outside class and is essential to complete flipped classroom assignments on blogs. Teachers should address privacy and safety when posting student content online.

WEBSITE AND CLASSROOM BLOG CREATION TOOLS

Name: Katie Hocut

Directions: Using the template below, describe how students could use a blog, wiki, or other website-
creation tool to learn required learning standards in your content area: For an A grade provide an idea that
reaches a Level of Technology Implementation of 4 or above. Remember higher levels (4-6) require that
students assume adult/professional roles; engage in higher-order thinking; and use technology
create/publish original content for their classmates and/or others beyond their school/classroom. The
learning activities and products should be engaging and meaningful to the students and to others who will
view/use/benefit from students work. Review your handouts on Engaged Learning, Authenticity, and LoTi.

Brief Description of Learning Experience:
Both teachers and students can use blogs to create projects. Blogs can also be used to connect parents to
their childs learning experience. The flipped classroom section of the blog will be used as an at-home
introduction to a topic. And it would be the students responsibility to complete the flipped classrooms
before class, so they can come to class prepared to learn the knowledge learned from the flipped classroom.

Student Engagement/Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): If students are not creating anything
than it will only be a LoTi level 2, if students are creating something than it could move up to a LoTi level
6.

Importance of technology:
Technology is very important in the classroom because it gives students the opportunity to learn outside of
the classroom. This is why technology is essential to complete assignments through the blog, without it
students would not be able to properly do the flipped classrooms.
Inspiration (optional):
Internet Safety and Student Privacy: There are many things teachers should be concerned with when it
comes to the internet, such as inappropriate pictures and the students talking to strangers. To reduce the risk
of happening to a student, the teacher could send home a letter to the parents letting them know about
everything and also providing them with my website URL. By doing this, only my students and their
parents would have access to my blog. With regards to students pictures I would send home a permission
slip to the parents so they can give permission or not for the childs picture or assignments to be posted to
my blog.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. Before starting this classroom I didnt know you
could use a blog for anything besides providing information, such as your e-mail and class schedule, but
now I know it can be used for students to complete homework and other things. I hope my students learn
from the flipped classroom additional information they may not have learned from inside the classroom.
