Start of the Crucible

It all started when the three girls were supposedly caught naked running around
in the trees. Also bettys would and couldnt wait up so all of them were scared
something had happened to them and some of the people that saw them dancing near
the trees said it looked like they were practicing witchcraft after that they were sent to
court. Also there were a couple people that said betty could fly like Giles I have not said
a word no one here can testify i've said a word. Is she going to fly again. I hear she flies
[pg 1110].
Proctor and Abigail have an affair during this and they still have feelings for each
other but they know it's not good and can't happen Procter says Abigail i never give
you hope to wait for me [pg 1109]. Which means that abigail had hope that he will
return and that she would be with him again. Also a lot of people know that they had an
affair but they choose not to say anything about it. During the beginning tituba was one
of the girls that admitted to witchcraft.
During the Crucible
During the Crucible, people were being convicted of witchcraft. Many of those who
were convicted, were falsely accused, manny because of greed and hatred. One of
these falsely woman, was named Elizabeth Proctor. She was accused of witchcraft,
when they found a poppet (doll) with a needle in it, the same place where Abigail
Williams had a needle in her that night. Abigail did this out of jealousy, because she
wanted to be with John Proctor, and wanted Elizabeth out of the pictures. Elizabeth
stated, Shed dare not call out such q farmers wife but there be monstrous profit in it.
She Tunis to take my place, John. [1127]
Another person who was wrongfully accused was Rebecca Nurse. She was
accused by, Ann Putnam, because Putnam believes that Nurse killed her children with
witchcraft during birth. Putnam has nothing but jealousy, because every one of Nurses
children were born and they now have children, will Putnam only has one living
daughter. I use Nurse as an example because Francis Nurse states, My wife is the
very brick and mortar of the church,.. [pg 1131]
Ending of the crucible
At the end of the Crucible, we are see that Judge Hathorne and D.G. Danforth, as well
as Mr. Parris and Mr. Hale, are trying to get one last confession out of those about to be
hung. We hear them talk about the gov. Court being overthrown in the next town over.
They as well speak of John Proctor and that he is to be hung. Mr. Parris as well as Mr.
Hale believe that John and Goody Nurse, should not be hung.Mr.Parries
says,Excellency, but these people have great weight yet in the town.[1157]
While Hathorne, Danforth, Hales, and Parris are speaking to John. John says that he
will confess to a crime he never committed. But because John lied and signed a
document that stated that he confessed. John said, Because I lie and sign myself to
lies. [1164] Because John nether denied or confessed to witchcraft, John proctor was
sent to be hung along with Rebecca Nurse at the end of the Crucible.

Accusation Proctor
John Proctor was with Mary warden in court. Addressing to the court, that the
girls (Abigail and the rest of her followers) were lying about accusing, innocent people
for being contracted with the devil. Abigail started acting as though she were being
under Marys evil power. Screaming, Oh, Mary, this is black art to change your shape.
no, I can not, I cannot shut my mouth; it's Gods work I do [pg1150]
Every judge and officials were claiming that Mary should confess to whether or not
she is contracted with the devil. Mary, out of fear of the court as well as fear of Abigail,
Mary confessed and said to John Proctor You're the Devils man [1151]. As well as
stating that Proctor was asking Mary is o sign the Devils book. Mr. Hales hearing that
Proctor is to be arrested and seeing the court and how broken it is, left the court and left
in unbelief.

Accusation Elizabeth
Elizabeth was accused when she she had a puppet and she had a needle in it,
then the maid said that abigail was stabbed in her chest randomly. This ended up
looking like elizabeth is a witch and made a vote udall to hurt abigail. At this point the
police came to her house and saw the puppet and put handcuffs on her at that point
Procter didn't like that and kept telling them that they can't do that and they wouldn't get
away with doing that to her and Elizabeth makes a point that i cannot think the devil
may own a woman's soul[pg 1130] she's trying to say that she doesn't believe that the
devil would do that to her.
Mary Warren knows the secret but she doesn't want to say it so Proctor tells her
to go to court with him and confess but she refuses because she says that she will end
up dieing if she goes to court and tells everyone and she also says they'll turn me in
[pg 1135] she doesn't want to be turned in for say the truth.
Procters Final decision
John procters final decision was to die because he say I have three kids how
may i teach them to walk like men in this world, and i sold my friends[pg 1163]. He's
saying how can he show his kids to walk like men if he has a blackened name and he's
basically a embarrassment since the paper that he has to sign has to be nailed where
everyone can see on the church doors. He also doesn't want to live with the fact that
he's lying. He also doesnt want to have is name in vain he doesn't want his children to
be embarrassed. He also says he sold his friends Beguile me not! I blackened all of
them when this is nailed to the church the very day they hang for silence[pg 1163]
He's trying to say that when that gets nailed to the church door all of his friends won't
talk to him because he did such a thing.
Procter intentionally wanted to admit it because he didn't want to die and
because he didn't want to leave his family. But at the end of it he couldn't find a way to
go through with it and he didn't want everyone to see the paper nailed to the church
door. He thought that they weren't going to embarrass him he thought they were just
going to leave it and move on but they didn't.
