I Never Want to see you Again

Antonio is waiting for his girlfriend Serena, so they can go out for dinner. When she arrives
an hour late, he is pretty annoyed. Serena comments on Antonio’s bad mood.
“Well if you weren’t always late, maybe I wouldn’t be in a bad mood,” says Antonio.
“Well if you gave me better directions, I wouldn’t be late,” snaps Serena. Then she asks,
“Where are we going for dinner?”
“We’re going to an Indian restaurant,” Antonio tells her.
“What!” screeches Serena, “You know I hate Indian food…it’s too spicy.”
“I didn’t know that,” yells Antonio, “Anyway, if you weren’t so picky, we could eat at any
kind of restaurant.”
“Well if you listened better, you would know more about me,” cries Serena.
“Well, I’ve already made reservations,” Antonio tells her coldly.
“If you really cared about me, you would cancel those reservations,” says Serena.
“Well I guess I don’t care about you that much,” yells Antonio.
“Fine! Then I never want to see you again!” screams Serena.
If Serena and Antonio didn’t argue so much, their relationship might have lasted
longer.

Low Self-Esteem
Peter doesn’t have much self-confidence. He always doubts himself, “If I were
smarter, I would get good grades.” “If I were taller, I could be on the basketball
team.” “If I were stronger, I could be on the wrestling team.” “If I were better
looking, I would have a girlfriend.” “If I were funnier, I’d have more friends.”
One day some guys in his class asked if he wanted to join their rock band,
because they knew Peter played guitar. He told them he didn’t have enough
time, but really he was thinking, “if only I played guitar better, I could be in a
band.” On his way home, Catherine, asked if he wanted to go to the school
dance with her. Peter lied, saying, he had to work that night. Peter was really
thinking to himself, “If only I knew how to dance, I could go with Catherine.” It
seems that Peter often avoids trying new things. If Peter didn’t doubt himself so
much, he would have a lot more fun.
