1. Determine the total pressure force on a circular plate of diameter 1.5 m which is placed vertically in
water in such a way that the centre of the plate is 3 m below the free surface of water. Find the

3. A square aperture in the vertical side of a tank has one diagonal vertical and is completely covered
by a plane plate hinged along one of the upper sides of the aperture. The diagonals of the aperture

below the free surface. Calculate:
(i) The thrust exerted on the plate by the liquid [61.026KN]

4. Figure below shows a tank containing water and liquid (sp. gravity = 0.9) up to height 0.25 m and
0.5 m respectively. Calculate:

5. An opening in a dam is covered by the use of a vertical sluice gate. The opening is 2 m wide and
1.2m high. On the upstream of the gate the liquid of specific gravity 1.45 lies upto a height of 1.5 m
above the top of the gate, whereas on the downstream side the water is available upto a height
touching the top of the gate. Find:
(i) The resultant force acting on the gate and position of centre of pressure;

7. A triangular plate of 1 meter base and 1.5 meter altitude is immersed in water. The plane of the

14. Calculate the pressure force on the curved surface ABCD as shown in the figure below. AB is a
