CHARTS
In Microsoft Excel, a chart is often called a
graph. It is a visual representation of data from
a worksheet that can bring more
understanding to the data than just looking at
the numbers.
A chart is a powerful tool that allows you to
visually display data in a variety of different
chart formats such as Bar, Column, Pie, Line,
Area, Doughnut, Scatter, Surface, or Radar
charts. With Excel, it is easy to create a chart.
Here are some of the types of charts that you
can create in Excel.
The Bar Chart is like a Column Chart lying on
its side. The horizontal axis of a Bar Chart
contains the numeric values.
A Pie Chart can only display one series of data.
Excel uses the series identifier as the chart
title (e.g. Animals) and displays the values for
that series as proportional slices of a pie.
The Line Chart is especially effective in
displaying trends. In a Line Chart, the vertical
axis (Y-axis) always displays numeric values
and the horizontal axis (X-axis) displays time
or other category.
Step 1=Select the range A1: D7
Step 2=On the insert tab, select Bar chart, Pie
chart, Line chart.

FILTER
Filters can be applied in different ways to improve the
performance of your worksheet. You can filter text, dates,
and numbers. You can even use more than one filter to
further narrow your results.
Step 1=Begin with a worksheet that identifies each column
using a header row.
Step 2=Select the Data tab and then locate the Sort &
Filter group. Click the Filter command.
Step 3=Drop-down arrows will appear in the header of
each column. Click the drop-down arrow for the column
you want to filter. In this example, we'll filter the Type
column to view only certain types of equipment.
Step 4=The Filter menu appears. Uncheck the boxes next to
the data you don't want to view, or uncheck the box next
to Select All to quickly uncheck all. Check the boxes next to
the data you do want to view. In this example, we'll check
Laptop and Projector to view only these types of equipment.
Step 5=Adding greater than filter in Month
Adding less than filter in Bear
Adding equal to filter in Dolphins
Adding color filter in Whales.
