SWOT analysis

In my SWOT analysis, I have highlighted what I view as my strengths,

weaknesses, opportunities and threats. With each section, I was honest with
myself and tried to criticise myself so that I can improve from this process. My
ambition is to have a career in web-based programming (for example a backend
web developer), have a piece of good knowledge in artificial intelligence,
computer programming in Python and blockchain technology.

In my SWOT there is a theme in what I recorded in each section, this is that

even though I am passionate in a career in web-based programming, I am not
experienced in this field. So, for example, I have been teaching myself HTML
and CSS for programming projects (this I listed in opportunities), but I have no
experience in the workplace environment (this I listed in threats).

Tim Cook (Chief Executive Officer of Apple) states that “I won’t hire a
programmer unless they can write a code . ” as a computer science student I
must be familiar with new technology and coding is compulsory to be called
computer science engineer, so before graduation I want to acquire the best
knowledge in core courses such as java programming, CSS, and operating
system in addition to the technical course I want to improve non-technical skill
like public speaking, project management, leadership and soft skill.

Also in my SWOT I assessed many personal aspects and recorded them in the
appropriate field. For example, in strengths, I listed that I am a quick learner,
this being useful for my career to learn an abstract subject like python
programming and blockchain technology. But on the other hand, I listed that I
am a Depressive person at a time and also that I procrastinate easily, these I
listed in weaknesses.

I think personal aspect is the most important things to assess in the SWOT
analysis, I think this is because I can work on academics skill most of the time
but to have non-technical skill such as teamwork, emotional intelligence, public
speaking, problem solving and strong communication are very important to me
as a personal skill to overcome my weakness.

Jobsite (2010) states that “A positive attitude is important if you want to turn
your weaknesses into strengths.”
this is I think the most important thing for self-improvement and is something I
am going to work on and also looking back at my career and life as a computer
science student, there were plenty of different ways I improved my
programming skills - reading code, writing code, reading books, listening to
podcasts, watching screencasts and more.

In addition to this, doing research and participating Idea-ton and Hack-ton is

important opportunities I want to done before graduation from VIT.
