Sime Detailed Lesson Plan

This lesson plan teaches students about Ohm's Law. It begins with objectives to explain Ohm's Law, identify its formula, and solve problems using the formula. The content section defines voltage, current, resistance and their units/symbols. Sample problems demonstrate using Ohm's Law formulas to calculate resistance, current, and voltage when two variables are known. An evaluation section provides additional practice problems for students to solve. The lesson concludes by assigning students to research series and parallel circuits.

SIME- DETAILED LESSON PLAN JULY 24, 2019

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
a. Explain the Ohms law.
b. Identify the formula of Ohms law.
c. Solve the problem using the correct formula of Ohms law.
II. Content
a. Subject matter: OHMS LAW
b. Materials:
1. Laptop
2. Projector
c. References: https://www.introduction-electrical-electronics...from
various fundamental laws which include coulombs law, OHMS LAW.
III. A. Preparatory Activities.
*Prayer
*Checking of attendance
*Review / recall
Class can you still recall our previous topic?
Last meeting we were able to discussed about PPE EQUIPMENT
B. Activity:
Group the students into 3. Form this letter into a word. Those who make
it first I will give you a prize, 2nd and 3rd group.
C. Analysis:
What was the word being formed?
Presentation of the lesson
This time we will learn the Ohms Law.
But before that please read the objectives:
D. Discussion:
Ohms Law Magic Triangle
V=VOLTAGE
I= CURRENT
R=RESISTAN
CE
Ohms law – defines the relationship between voltage, current and
resistance.(physics)
These basic electrical units apply to direct current, and alternating current..
Voltage- is measured in ” VOLTS”. Symbolized by the letter “V”
Current- is measured in “Amps” Symbolized by the letter “I”
Resistance- is measured in “Ohms” symbolized by letter “R”

Quantity symbol unit of measurement unit of abbriviation

current I Ampere (Amp) A
voltage E or V Volt V
resistance R Ohm Ω

If you know V and I , and wish to determine R, just eliminate R from the picture
and see what’s left.

R=V/I

If you know V and R, and wish to determine I, just eliminate I, and see what left.

I=V/R
If you know I and R, and wish to determine V, eliminate V and see what’s left.

V=IXR
When using Ohms law always the 3 step form:
1. write the equation
2.replace the known values
3. solve the problem
Label with the correct unit of abbreviation.
Solve the following problems:
1. A small light bulb is connected to 6 volts battery and draws
2A of current. What is the resistance of the bulb?
a. write the equation _________________R= V/I
b. replace the known values ___________ R= 6V I= 2A R=?
c. solve____________________________ R= 3Ω
2. Determine the amount of current going to a 40Ω resistor with a voltage of 120
volts.
a. write the equation_______________ I=V/R
b. replace the known values_________ I= 120V R= 40Ω I = ?
c. solve__________________________ I=3A
III. Evaluation:
1. In a circuit 4A is flowing through the bulb. The voltage across the bulb
is 220V. What is the bulb resistance?
A. write the equation________________ R= V/I
b. replace the known value___________ R= 220V I= 4 A R= ?
c. solve___________________________ R= 55Ω
2. You light a bulb with a supply of 110V. If a bulb has a resistance of 10 ohms.
How much current is flowing.
a. write the equation ________________ I= V/R
b. replace the known values __________ V= 110V R= 10Ω I=?
c. solve___________________________ I= 11A
3. A motor with an operating resistance of 32 ohms. The current in the circuit
is 1.5A. What is the voltage of the source?
a. write the equation _________________ V= IXR
b. replace the known values ___________ I= 1.5A R= 32 Ω V=?
c. solve ____________________________ V= 48V
ANSWER KEY:
1. 55Ω
