III. Procedure
A. Preliminaries
1. Motivation
Let the students complete the phrase below:
Yesterday I ____, _____, and _____
Example: Yesterday I walked, ran and jogged as part of my daily exercise
in the morning.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Activity
Students will be grouped into 3. Each group will be given strips of
paper for them to work on and form into one meaningful sentence. And
after posting their work on the board, they will identify the parallel words,
phrases, and clauses.
Group 1: She loves flowers, birds, andbutterflies.
Group 2: She likes walking along the seashore, climbing
mountains, and gathering corals.
Group 3: Her sister was most happy when she went scuba diving
in Anilao, Batangas, and when she went snorkeling in Palawan.
2. Analysis
Discussion of parallelism. The teacher will also provide other
examples for better understanding.
3. Abstraction
What is parallelism?
What are the different parallel structures under parallelism?
4. Application
Students will pair up and do the following activities.
Activity 1: Copy the sentences in p.209 and place a check
mark before the sentence that has parallel structure and cross
mark before the sentence that has no parallel structure. (Refer to
English Expressways p.209 for the complete copy of the
sentences.)
Activity 2: Complete each sentence in p.209 by adding a
structure parallel to the italicized parts. (Refer to English
Expressways p.209 for the complete copy of the sentences.)
IV. Evaluation
Individual Activity
Read the following sentences on p.209 and identify the parallel
structures. (Refer to English Expressways p.208 for the complete copy of
the sentences.)
V. Assignment
Research about idiomatic expressions with examples.
