Possible Areas of Improvement Identified and suggestions

• Cleanliness – Offices and reception need to be cleaned regularly


• Pricing Guidelines should be improved and available to Sales
• Parts and Price database needs to be established
• Improved recording of job information to enable future analysis of trends
• Daily Staff planning exercise needed to establish what work is in progress and what action
has to be taken in the workshops
• Low capacity utilisation – Increase productivity and volumes
• Over reliance on walk in customers – aggressive marketing needed
• Revision and development of warranties and other documentation used by the company
• Competitor analysis – what are they doing right that we are not? Best Practices
• Full Profile of the division and its Product Portfolio needs to be developed

Other

• New Printer and Copier need (Slow service due to speed of dot matrix printer)
• Dust Coats or Worksuits for sales staff
• Some Customers don’t accept manual invoices – Computerised invoicing

This and other issues we may discuss is what I have learnt in the first week of my induction and I
hope to have more detailed product and process knowledge so as to enable me to be effective in the
position of Technical Sales Officer. My gratitude is to all the staff at Mike Appel and AJ Turbo &
Diesel who continue to support and provide valuable knowledge to me during this period.
