It is a Statutory requirements under The Factories Act,


1948 and Maharashtra Factories Rules, 1963
[Vide Section 37 : sub sec.4 of F.A. & rule 73-C,sub sec
(I) & rule 73-F,sub sec (a & b) of M.F.R.,1963]
WORK PERMIT SYSTEM
OBJECTIVE

To create a safe work carrying environment with


minimization of risk for both, plant and the personal,
who are out the job of repairs & maintenance,
Inspection, testing etc.
WORK PERMIT SYSTEM
It clearly spells out :
 Task
 Equipment
 Location
 Personnel involved
 Date & Time Limitations
 Likely Hazards
 Precautions to be taken by applicant
WORK PERMIT SYSTEM
PERMIT ISSUER :

 The departmental manager or his authorised deputy having


proprietary responsibility.

THE PERMIT IS ISSUED TO :


 Supervisor
 Engineer / Technician
 Contractor or his employees ( who actually carry out the job)

 The permit indicates that the people undertaking the job, have
reviewed the permit, understood and accept the stipulations
mentioned therein.
