Veeam Certified Engineer

(VMCE)
Program Guide 2017 (North America)
Program Overview
The Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) Program is designed to empower Veeam experts through the delivery
of technical courses that focus on the implementation and configuration of Veeam® Software solutions for VMware
vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.

VMCE certification is documented proof that an engineer possesses the necessary level of expertise to correctly
implement and configure Veeam Software. VMCE certification also indicates that an engineer has the knowledge and
experience to be hired as a Veeam expert. Veeam is dedicated to the success of every VMCE and provides benefits and
resources that are tailored to each individual’s needs.

This guide serves as the governing document for the VMCE Program and should be read in its entirety.

Qualification Requirements
To qualify as a Veeam Certified Engineer you must follow the steps as outlined below:

1. Read, understand and agree to comply with all aspects of this guide.
2. Have a solid virtualization, backup and recovery knowledge base.
3. Be able to meet the Program Requirements as defined in this document.
4. Attend the VMCE course via Instructor Lead Training (ILT) or Live Online Learning (LOL).
5. Pass the VMCE test through Pearson VUE with a score of 70% or higher

Program Benefits
At Veeam, we reward professionals who invest in us. The VMCE certification provides Veeam experts with the knowledge
to implement Veeam solutions, a sought-after skill in the marketplace. This certification is an excellent investment for an IT

Program Requirements
To become and maintain the VMCE certification there are three requirements that must be met:

1. Class
This course provides the core knowledge necessary to both implement and optimize Veeam solutions. It focuses on the
integration of Veeam Software with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-v virtual environments. The class also teaches
the engineer techniques used for implementing and optimizing the backup, recovery and replication setup.

2. Monitored Exam
Once coursework is complete, an engineer becomes eligible to take the proctored exam at Pearson VUE. When registering
for the exam, the student must provide a valid course completion certificate indicating the VMCE technical training course
has been completed. This course completion certificate indicates that the VMCE technical course has been completed and
the engineer is authorized to take the VMCE exam. If additional attempts are needed, engineers must first receive another
voucher number from Veeam and pay the certification cost directly to the testing facility.

The VMCE certification cannot be granted until the VMCE-proctored exam has been passed. Within three weeks of passing
the VMCE-proctored exam, Veeam will send a welcome packet that includes a VMCE shirt, access directions for Veeam
“No queue for you” support for onsite help, and the copyrights to the VMCE logo.

3. Certification Maintenance
All VMCE certifications must be for the current major release of a product or the one prior to meet the VMCE Program
requirements. The recertification exam for a new release must be completed within 120 days after a every second major
new release is announced. If the VMCE fails to upgrade certification in the allotted 120-day period, the VMCE will receive
an additional 90-day-grace period to retake the VMCE technical-training course and the VMCE-proctored exam in its
entirety. If the VMCE has not upgraded certification during this grace period, VMCE certification will expire and the engineer
will no longer be eligible for to take advantage of VMCE benefits.

Training Options
As a convenience, there are two training options available. Engineers may attend a three-day, face-to-face, Instructor
Led Training or they may take courses through Veeam’s Live Online Learning (LOL) format.

Instructor Led Training

The core education offering is Instructor Led Training (ILT) delivered by Veeam distribution partners worldwide.
The three-day course delivers Veeam software knowledge and teaches its interaction with core technologies working
in conjunction with Veeam Software. Every class includes lecture and hands-on aspects that allow

the students to hear about the technology and its configuration and then experience the configuration in labs based
on real customer situations. ILT is held on pre-scheduled dates, scheduling is established by the Veeam Authorized
Education Center and the entire schedule is available at www.veeam.com/vmce.html.

Quality and Auditing
Veeam Certified Engineers are expected to maintain a level of professionalism and expertise that positively represents
a certified engineer, the company and Veeam in the industry. Veeam reserves the right to perform audit checks on any
end-user solutions serviced by the engineer.

Veeam may initiate the audit process at any time with or without cause through the notification of the engineer
by a Veeam education manager. In the audit process, Veeam will conduct interviews with the end user, the VMCE and
the Veeam reseller to gather input and all needed data. A technical review of the implemented solution will be completed
to ensure that the solution was implemented according to best practices and customer needs. Once this process
is complete, the Veeam education manager will deliver a written audit report that may include various remediation
steps and additional training requirements that the VMCE must complete to maintain VMCE certification.

Certification Maintenance
All VMCEs are required to keep current on knowledge and certification related to Veeam Software, this includes paying
re-certification every two new major releases of the Veeam software.

More information on the VMCE certification upgrade rules based on the current version of the VMCE program can be found
on www.veeam.com/vmce.html in the “upgrade rules” document.
