 Lv1  CHEM  Mid-­‐term  test  announcement.  

 
We  will  use  ZOOM  Meeting  for  invigilation/proctoring  of  midterm  test.  There  are  2  papers  in  this  test.    

Coverage  of  the  midterm  test  –  topics  4  to  7,  i.e.:  

• 4.  Chemical  Accounting  化學中的計算    


• 5.  Gas,  liquid,  solid  and  intermolecular  forces 氣體.液體.固體.分子間的作用力  
• 6.  Acids  and  Bases  酸和鹼    
• 7.  Redox  and  Electrochemistry  氧化還原和電化學  
 
Rundown:  

2:30pm  –  2:40pm   Setting  up  and  testing  hardware  for  ZOOM  proctoring.    
2:40pm  –  2:50pm   Paper  I  (time  allowed:  20  min)  is  ‘M  C  questions’  (18  questions,  36  points).    
2:50pm  –  3:00pm   Break  10  min  
3:00pm  –  3:40pm   Paper  II  (time  allowed:  40  min)  is  ‘short  questions’  (7  questions,  42  points).      
3:40pm  –  3:55pm   Break  15  min  
3:55pm    onwards   Resume  teaching  
 

FOR  EACH  PAPER  (Paper  I  /  Paper  II):  

You  will  need  an  electronic  calculator,  ball  pens  and  some  blank  papers  (these  will  serve  as  your  answer  
sheets  for  both  Paper  I  and  Paper  II).    

After  time  is  up,  either:    

(i) Use  your  smartphone  to  take  photographs  of  your  answer  sheets,  insert  them  into  a  WORD  
file,  convert  it  into  PDF,  and  save  it.  Then,  send  it  as  email  attachment(s)  to  your  class  
instructor  <  chanhw@ust.hk  >.  

OR  
(ii) Install  a  phone  scanner  app  (e.g.  Cam  Scanner  app,  or  Tiny  Scanner)  on  your  mobile  device.  
Take  pictures  of  your  answer  sheets  using  this  app,  and  convert  it  into  a  PDF.  Then,  send  
them  as  email  attachments  to  your  class  instructor  <  chanhw@ust.hk  >.

===============  [  invigilation  arrangement]  ===============  

Please  note  the  following:  

1.  You  will  need  a  device  with  both  a  microphone  and  a  front  camera  (e.g.  laptop  computer,  smartphone  
operating  on  iOS  or  Android)  

2.  If  you  are  using  a  smartphone,  you  will  need  to  install  the  app  'Zoom  cloud  meetings'  in  advance.  

3.  The  Zoom  meeting  ID:  189-844-753  (password  the  same  as  Webinar:  692099).  
4.  Turn  your  video  camera  on  and  unmute  your  microphone  during  the  whole  period  of  the  exam.  

5.  While  you  enter  the  Zoom  meeting  room  with  a  smartphone,  you  are  recommended  to  enter  the  
same  Zoom  meeting  room  with  another  computer  for  better  screen  resolution  (some  instructions  and  
questions  may/will  be  given  on  screen).  The  smartphone  is  only  used  for  our  proctoring  /  invigilation.
