COURSE TITLE: INTRODUCTION TO THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM
COURSE DESCRIPTION: A study and analysis of the basic principles of health and the holistic approach in
pharmaceutical care. Focus is on the stages of human development, health problem identification, health care
strategies and essential health promotions and interventions. The students are expected to demonstrate their
understanding of the general principles of health care by formulating health care strategies and applying essential
health promotions and interventions.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
a. Understand the dynamics of health in the context of different interacting dimensions leading to
total health.
b. Categorize human cycle and determine variances among the stages in physical, physiological,
and psycho-social development;
c. Identify the arising health problems and to describe basic assessment tools in providing
patient care;
d. Illustrate different health- support sectors in private and public practice, including different
professions responsible in providing health care in the community.
