Social media networks have been one of the biggest disrupters in digital marketing for the hospitality
industry. It has transformed how hotels, restaurants, airlines, events, tourism etc. market themselves to
connect, influence, and gain potential consumers.
Hospitality marketing professionals are being forced to use various types of digital marketing activities
to create brand awareness and integrate different strategies to achieve their revenue objectives and
company goals.
The best way for a business to be known and increase their awareness is by building a strong online
presence. It is also about putting the right content, in the right place through social media strategies
and content marketing.
The best social media strategies begin with the right networks (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube).
Every hotel, restaurant, destination and event is different and there is no one size fits all social media
strategy.
The top five social media networks that hotels, restaurants, events and destinations use to market
themselves are:

Your task for this assessment is to develop a social media marketing message plan. You will choose a
scenario below (based on your college program) listed in the chart below.
You are to choose ONE of the social media platforms from the list above to market your hotel, or event
and develop your social media marketing messaging strategies.
Timeline:
You will have a two-month period prior to your scenario being available for purchase or experienced by
guests to create marketing on your social media platform that you choose. Your goal is to build
awareness of your product offering/experience within the two months.
