A gambler walks through 3 casinos. Upon entering, he paid Php 10.00.
He won and doubled all his
money in a card game. He again paid Php 10.00 as he walked out of the casino. In the second casino,
he paid Php 10.00 as he entered, doubled his money upon winning. He again paid Php 10.00 as he
left. He did the same in the third casino but upon leaving, he had nothing left. How much was his
original amount of money?
The original amount of money of the gambler can be calculated by getting the sum of Php 10
( entrance fee in the third casino) and Php 10 ( the amount of the money that the gambler paid
when he walked out the second casino) divided by 2 ( since his money in the first casino was
doubled in the second casino) plus Php 10 ( the entrance fee that he paid in the second casino) plus
Php 10 ( exit fee in the first casino) divided by 2 ( since his money was doubled in the first casino)
and php 10 ( the entrance fee in the first casino)
x = the original amount of money
x = (((10+10) / 2 ) + 10 + 10) / 2 + 10
x= (( 20 / 2 ) + 10 +10 ) / 2 + 10
x = ( 10 + 10 + 10) / 2 + 10
x = 30 / 2 + 10
x = 15 + 10
x = 25
The amount of the original money of the gambler is Php 25.00
