Answer the questions
Ned wanted some coffee. He went to his favorite vending
machine. This machine always worked and was never out of coffee.
Ned stuck a coin in the slot, but the machine didn't work. "No
coffee! I can't go out and get coffee right now because I can't
be out of my office at this time. I guess I'll try it again
before I try another machine." He inserted another coin and
pulled the knobs, first for black coffee, then for coffee with
cream, and lastly, coffee with cream and sugar. They didn't
work. Finally, after he tried many times, Ned wrote "out of
order" on a piece of paper and stuck it to the machine. He
didn't get any coffee until he went to lunch because he had no
more change. Ned felt awful all day because he didn't have his
morning coffee.LANGUAGE LABORATORY ACTIVITIES, TAPE 1C, BOOK 10

Dear Jane:
I couldn't go to your party last weekend because I had to
work late on Sunday. Usually, I'm finished at the store by 5:30,
but last weekend I had a lot of extra work. I couldn't leave the
store until 8 PM. By that time, I was very tired and hungry. I
tried to buy a sandwich, but I couldn't find a sandwich vending
machine. Finally I stopped looking. I went home without supper.
After I got home and changed clothes, it was very late. I know
you had a good party. I'm sorry I didn't go.
I won't have to go to work on Tuesday and Wednesday of next

you like to do that? Call me on Monday.
