Unifors Xi Dose Meter
1General
The new dose meter is available in three different versions, the Unifors Xi Basic, Unfors
Xi Standard and Unifors Xi Prestige.
• Measures dose, dose rate, dose/pulse in one measurement cycle.
• Detectors are kV-compensated, no correction factors are required for different kV.
• Detectors are shielded to avoid incorrect measurement due to scatter radiation.
NOTE The measured dose (directly on the FD or image intensifier)
is 10-15% lower compared to the DIADOS!
• Displays all information immediately after the exposure (even with single shot).
• Digital transfer of data between detector and basic unit.
• Light sensor shows cd/m2 for monitor brightness and lux for room light measurements.
• Data can be transferred to a PC (Unfors Xi Standard & Prestige versions only).
• The dose waveform is recorded for max 1200 ms and can be transferred to a PC
(Unfors Xi Standard & Prestige versions only).
• Invasive mAs measurement parallel to dose measurement is possible (option with
Unfors Xi Basic & Standard).
• Small base unit & detectors.
• Rechargeable NiMH battery.

Unifors Xi Basic 1.1
The Unfors Xi Basic is a meter for dose rate, dose/pulse and dose measurements.
It can be used for all X-ray systems except Mammography and CT.
It is shipped with the required detector and all cables.
A light detector for monitor measurements is available as an option. The monitor measure-
ments cannot meet the German "§16 Monitormessung"; it is possible to make only "contact
measurements".
mAs measurement is possible with the additional mAs option.
¹ Dose / dose rate measurement on AX and SP systems.
¹ No mammography measurements.
¹ No CT measurements.

Unifors Xi Standard 1.2
The Unfors Xi Standard is for advanced measurements. Dose rate, dose/pulse and dose
can be measured; in addition, the # of pulses, the kV, the HVL (Half Value Layer), the frame
rate and the scene time are displayed. It is possible to measure the Mammography dose
with an optional detector (the X-ray detector is replaced by a combined X-ray and Mammo
detector). CT dose measures are possible with an optional CT detector. Survey (scatter
radiation) measurements are possible with an additional survey detector. Light measure-
ment on monitors (LCD and CRT) is possible with an optional light detector (not applicable
for §16 measurements in Germany). mAs measurement is possible with the additional mAs
option.
The dose meter can record the dose waveform for the first 1200 ms maximum. This wave-
form can be transferred to a PC for evaluation and all the other measurements are also
transferred to the PC.

instead of the “X-ray” detector (option).
¹ CT measurements are possible with the additional CT detector (option).

tor (option).
¹ Monitor measurement is possible with the additional “LIGHT detector” (option).
The monitor measurements cannot meet the German "§16 Monitormessung"; it
is possible only to make "contact measurements".

Unifors Xi Prestige 1.3
The Unfors Xi Prestige generally has the same functionality as the Unfors Xi Standard. The
difference is that almost all necessary detectors are already included in this package and
the mAs measurement is possible as a default. Only the Survey detector is an option due
to non-standard usage in service environments.
Like the Unfors Xi Standard, all detectors required for:
• AX & SP
• Mammography
• CT are included.
• Monitor brightness: the monitor measurements cannot meet the German "§16 Moni-
tormessung"; it is possible only to make "contact measurements".
Scatter radiation measurement is possible with the additional “SURVEY” detector (option).

Only a few settings are described below. Overall general operation can be found in the
Unfors XI Operator Manual included in the shipment.
NOTICE The sensor field may not be exposed to X-rays if the message
“Zero adjust” is displayed.
¹ If this happens, return with EXIT ins SENSOR MENU
and reselect the sensor. When this is done, the “Zero
adjust” is performed again.
NOTICE Monitor measurement with the “Unfors Xi Light”.
¹ Monitor measurement with the “Unfors Xi Light” can-
not meet the German "§ 16 Monitormessung", because
distance measurement cannot be performed.
NOTE The measured dose (directly on the FD or I.I.) using the
Unfors Xi is 10 - 15% lower compared to the DIADOS,
because the Unfors Xi detector is equipped with a shield
against scatter radiation.
SENSOR MENU 0
The appropriate sensor must be selected in the sensor menu:
• R/F low = low-dose sensor for conventional measurement of low dose rates of <
1mGy/s, normally with a phantom,
¹ e.g, for adjustment of the system dose.
• R/F high = high-dose sensor for conventional measurement of higher dose rates of >
1mGy/s, normally without a phantom,
¹ e.g, for adjustment of the skin dose.
SETUP MENU 0
The following settings must be selected in the Setup menu:
• Trig delay = 0 ms
• kVp delay = 5 ms
• Calc. delay = 4 s
• Dose unit = Gy/s

Reset Switch
If the software hangs up for any reason, acti-
vate the system Reset by pressing a thin
object into the hole next to the RS-232 socket
on the side of the base unit.

Sensor Position
The semi-conductor sensors are approx. 7
mm below the detector surface. The position
is marked by a line on the aluminum housing.
