Science 7 Date: I.Objectives: A. Topic: Earth's Resorces B. Reference: Mixploring Science 7 Pp. 168 - 170

This document summarizes a science module that discusses the natural resources of the Philippines. It identifies land resources like metal deposits such as nickel, iron, and copper. It also discusses forest resources, agricultural crops, and marine resources like fish. The module emphasizes the importance of protecting these natural resources through reducing waste, recycling, avoiding over-harvesting, and preventing pollution. Students complete activities to learn about key terms and create a poster highlighting the country's natural resources.

SCIENCE 7

MODULE I

DATE: February 24 - 28, 2020-02-25

I.OBJECTIVES
 Identify the different natural resources on Earth
 Explain the importance of natural resources of taking care of it
 Enumerate ways of conserving Earth’s natural resources

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic : Earth’s Resorces
B. Reference : Mixploring Science 7 pp. 168 – 170

III. DISCUSSION

Earth is made up of land, water, and air, where the land part is
composed mainly of soil, rocks, and underground deposits of coal, minerals and
other fuels. Earth is rich in natural resources that provide the basic needs of
people and promote economic progress. Philippines is one of the countries which
has abundant land marine resources.

 Land Resorces

Approximately there is 21.5 billion metric tons of metal deposits

available in the Philippines. This includes nickel in Surigao Del Norte,
Panay, Palawan, Romblon, and Samar; iron in Ilocos Norte, Nueva ecija,
Camarines Norte, and Cotobato; copper in Zambales, batangas , Mindoro,
Panay, and Negros. There is also an estimated 19.3 billion metric tons of
non-metal deposits such as cement, lime,and marble in the country.
Philippines is rich in forest resources, that include bamboo, rattan,
ferns, palms, and even diverse species of animals (fauna) and species of
flowers (flora).

In terms of agricultural resources, the country has a wide variety of

vegetables and crops like rice, corn, coconut, abaca, tobacco, sugarcane,
banana and pineapple which are both for local and international
consumption.

 Marine Resources
Philippines boast of many different types of natural water forms,
such as bays, rivers, lakes, falls, swamps etc. There is more than thousand
fish species that can be found in the seas such as tuna and mackerel
which has high commercial value. Sulu, Bohol, Pangasinan, Palawan,
Quezon, Sorsogon, Laguna Lake, and Nauan Lake in Mindanao are the rich
fishing grounds of the country where other marine products like shrimps,
squid, crab, and seaweed can be found.
- There are magnificent waterfalls thatgenerate power for the
nations growth and prosperity. (Maria Cristina Falls)

Protection and Conversation of Natural Resources

Earth may have have rich natural resources, but in the long run it has
been greatly affected by advancement of technology and some human
activities. Protecting and conserving Earth’s natural resources include the
following:
 Practicing the 5Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair, Recover;
 Avoiding over-harvesting of resources such as overfishing, overhunting,
and illegal logging;
 Planting trees;
 Conserving water and electricity;
 Avoiding activities that may pollute land, water, and air; and
 Joining environmental campaigns on protection and conversation of the
environment.
