Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde

Narrator : A man was walking to his rooms at 2 o’clock in the morning. He had
spent his night in town
Richard : Oh, what a great night (sigh) It’s kind of chilly to walk in the street.
Narrator : (wind ≈) Suddenly, Richard saw a little man wearing a black coat,
who was walking at a good pace towards him. At the same time, he
saw a girl running as hard as she was able to.
Richard : What is the girl doing at this hour? Hey! (reach out his hand)
Narrator : Unfortunately, he was too late. The child and the man ran into one
another at the corner. The man trampled over the child’s body and
left her screaming on the ground.
Eddie : Aaaah!!! Mummy, help me! It’s so painful!!
Richard : (swore)
Richard : Wait my friend!
Narrator : Richard went after the man. The man turned to look at Richard.
Richard took him by the collar.
Hyde : Who’s your friend? What do you want from me?
Richard : Explain that!
Narrator Richard was shocked by the little man’s expression.
Richard Ugh! Ugly brute!
Hyde Your manners leave too much to be desired, young fellow. Perhaps
you will explain yourself.
Richard : Explain MYSELF!!! First, perhaps you will explain your own beastly
action in trampling upon that child and leaving her there upon the
ground.
Hyde That!! That, my dear fellow, was nothing but an accident!
Richard An accident!? You called it an accident where you walked over the
girl- without a thought- or a glance- like a-a machine, rather than a
man?! You will good enough to return, to offer your sympathy and
inquire what harm you may have done... Perhaps it would be as
well.
Narrator : When they reached at the scene of the accident, a crowd of people
had gathered around the child.
Richard : Let me pass…
Narrator : The child lay still upon the ground, crying and trembling. But now
her head was pillowed on the lap of a thin-faced woman who was
kneeling beside her, murmuring words of comfort. A man explained
to one of the bystanders what had happened.
Man : The child’s mother was taken queer and we sent young Eddie here
to fetch the doctor. Then, all of a sudden, we hear her screams-
something horrible it was- knocked her down, and – and we ran out
and found her here. She says that a man knocked her down, and-
and just walked over her!
Narrator : The man became conscious of the presence of Richard and his
prisoner. (the man turned back)
Richard : I saw what happened. Is she badly hurt?
Man : I don’t think so.
Eddie : It was HIM!! He hurt me. Don’t let him get me… don’t let him get
me...(cries)
Eddie’s father : Was it you that did it?
Richard : My good man, it was an accident.
Eddie’s father : An accident?! I’ll accident you.
Background I : (yells) Give him something!
Background II : Knock his head off! (angry noises)
Narrator : Richard found himself in the middle of a ring of angry faces of men
and women who cursed and threatened. Then came an unexpected
interruption.
Dr Grant : What’s all this?
