INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing TRUE STRIKE!
ProjectSAM’s acclaimed TRUE STRIKE series holds the percussion libraries of choice for film, TV and game composers
requiring cinematic, powerful percussion samples. TRUE STRIKE focuses on orchestral percussion and was recorded in a
beautiful concert hall environment which gives it its deep, warm sound. The library gives you lively recordings of symphonic
percussion instruments such as timpani, bass drum, snares, tom toms, cymbals, tam tam, tubular bells, glockenspiel,
xylophone, celesta, various small percussion, metal hits and much more.
This reference manual will guide you through the different features and possibilities of TRUE STRIKE.
We hope TRUE STRIKE will be a source of inspiration for you and, starting today, will find its way into all of your music
projects.

MICROPHONE CHANNELS
TRUE STRIKE was recorded in a beautiful concert hall environment using three stereo mic pairs. The TRUE STRIKE
interface allows you to mix these mic channels in real-time. Individual channels can also be purged, to save RAM.
1 Close Mic
The Close mic was placed at a distance of 2-3 meters. This gives the samples in this mic folder a bright, direct and relatively
dry character.
2 Stage Mic
The Stage mic was placed at a distance of 6-7 meters. This is the go-to mic set for most orchestral composers.
3 Far Mic
The Far mic was placed at a distance of around 15 meters. This mic set gives you the most ambient, wet sound,
great for an extremely large and epic sounding snare drum, gran cassa or tutti hit.

MAIN TAB
1 MIC CHANNELS
Click the ‘c’ (close), ‘s’ (stage) or ‘f’ (far) labels to purge/un-purge a mic channel to save RAM. By default, all three
mic channels are loaded. Use the vertical faders to adjust the volume of each of the three mic channels individually.
2 MIC CROSS-FADER
The horizontal microphone cross-fader allows you to smoothly morph between the three mic channels, without hav-
ing to control each channel fader individually.

3 MODWHEEL CONTROL
The functionality of the modulation wheel (MIDI CC #1) differs per instrument. Its three possible functions are:
- Articulation switching
The modulation wheel allows you to switch between different articulations of the instrument.
In the example screenshot, the drum snares can be switched on (wheel down) or off (wheel up)
using the modulation wheel.
- Dynamic cross-fading
The modulation wheel allows you to smoothly control the dynamics of a looped percussion sample,
such as a timpani or drum roll.
- Filter
The modulation wheel controls a set of hi-pass and lo-pass filters. In its middle position, no filtering
is applied. By default, the modwheel filter is turned off. To turn it on, click on the text ‘Filter’.

4 ROUND ROBIN
Enable/disable the round robin feature, which automatically alternates the triggering of multiple takes of the same
hit. Using round robin you avoid the the so-called ‘machine gun effect’, in which the same sample is mechanically
repeated over and over.
5 RELEASE TRAILS
Enable/disable release trails, which triggers an end note and a natural concert hall reverberation tail upon releasing
a looped percussion sample, such as a drum roll.
6 MASTER EQ
Apply a certain amount of low, mid and high gain to the instrument.
7 LIMITER
Apply a certain amount of limiting to the instrument. The knob controls the limiter effect’s input.
8 REVERB MIX
Apply a certain amount of convolution reverberation to the instrument.
9 REVERB TAIL
Adjust the tail length of the convolution reverb. The default tail length is 50% of the original convolution sample.
10 ATTACK
Adjust the attack time of the instrument. Release trails will not be affected.
11 DECAY
Adjust the decay & release times of the instruments. The release time of looped samples (such as tremolos)
will not be affected.
