SOCIAL INEQUALITY
Social inequality refers to the unequal access to
social, political and symbolic capital of individuals in

society. This phenomenon exists every time individuals

and institutions are categorized or differentiated into

classes or distinct groups, or socially constructed as

disparate entities.

1. Social Inequality and Poverty

2. Gender Inequality
3. Ethnicity and Race Issue
4. Other Minorities
5. Global Inequality
SOCIAL INEQUALITY AND POVERTY

Income, affluence, and poverty are also important

factors that define social inequality.

GENDER INEQUALITY

The Philippines, however, has shown great progress with regard to

addressing gender inequality. Filipino women have been enjoying more

rights and their participation and influence in work and politics have

increased.
ETHNICITY AND RACE ISSUES

The constant interaction between people of varied ethnicities

and cultural background inevitably leads to conflicts that

contribute to the emergence of inequality and discrimination.

OTHER MINORITIES (EX: PWD)

The inequalities and discrimination experienced by these groups do

not fall neatly within the category of class, gender, ethnicity, and

race.
GLOBAL INEQUALITY

Global stratification refers to the unequal

distribution of wealth, power, and prestige on a

global basis, highlighting patterns of social

inequality and resulting in people having vastly

different lifestyles and opportunities both within and

among the nations of the world.

CHANGE
INCLUSIVE CITIZENSHIP AND PARTICIPATORY

GOVERNANCE

Citizens are beneficiaries of social welfare programs and other public

services, and are guaranteed protection from internal and external threats.

NEW FORMS OF MEDIA AND SOCIAL NETWORKING

Fast and reliable Internet connections gave people an equitable access to

information and ideas. Positively, advancement in information access makes it

more difficult for governments or any entity to hide inconvenient truths.

SOCIAL MOVEMENTS

Most social movements engage the government, international organizations,

corporations, or other powerful institutions in an effort to advance their goals.

Social movements actions include street protests and other mass

demonstrations.
