MANIQUEZ: Good day everyone especially to our thesis adviser, Teacher Rutchell Cuento
Saplot , I’am Russell Maniquez together with chuchu
LABRADO: For more than 6 months in senior high school level, we have observe that
students in senior high school are mostly involve in romantic relationship and that brought
us to the idea on seeing the connection of romantic relationship and the academic
performance of the students. Good afternoon everyone I am Giessan Mae Cañete Labarado
a Senior High School student of Stratford International School and I am one of the
presenter of this study.
: Our research is entitled, the effects of romantic relationship to the academic
performance of Grade 12 students of Stratford International School. Now let’s quickly
breakdown the tittle one-by-one. First the effect of romantic relationship, so basically
romantic relationship talks about a strong connection and deep association between
people, the academic performance is one of the main key factor of the study, meaning it
revolves around the concept of the effect of romantic relationship in the academic
performance, the grade 12 students of Stratford International School is pertaining to the
population or the respondents of the study. May I give the floor to Miss Lacerna for the
SOP discussion.
LACERNA: In this Slide, we have three Statements of the Problem. One, What are the
effects of romantic Relationships on the Grade 12 students in Stratford International
School in terms of Academic grades/Performance (whether the romantic relationship
affects their academic performance or not), time management (how much time they spend
between their studies and their partner), and levels of motivation (whether having
romantic relationship motivates them during their studies or not)? Two, what is the
academic performance of Grade 12 students in Stratford International School.
And last, three, Is there any Significant connection between romantic relationships and the
educational status of the Grade 12 students of Stratford International School.
: Those are the three statements of the Problem.
I shall now give Russell Maniquez for the Scope and Delimitation Discussion.
MANIQUEZ: Now comes the discussion of scope and delimitation. Filipino teenagers
nowadays have more freedom to engage in romantic relationships, regardless of whether
the romantic relationships have a positive or negative impact on their academic
performance. A relationship is a close bond between two people, particularly one that
involves romantic or sexual feelings. This study primarily examines how romantic
relationships affect the academic performance of Grade 12 students at Stratford
International School who are involved in a romantic relationship. This paper will
investigate Stratford students' perspectives on how romantic relationships affect time
management, level of motivation, and educational status. Dennice is up next for definitions
of terms.
JACO: Here are the Definitions of terms included in our study.
: Many researchers have defined the term "romantic relationship" differently. It
might be based on their viewpoints, experiences, or tastes. But, according to Cuadro et al.
(2019), a Romantic Relationship is a strong connection, deep association, or acquaintance
between two or more people. It's either a heterosexual relationship where people are
sexually or romantically attracted to people of the opposite sex, or a homosexual
relationship refers to the attraction between people of the same sex.
: the next term is Academic Performance. The extent to which the student, teacher,
or institution has achieved their short or long-term educational goal. To fulfill the
requirements of their courses, all students must maintain an excellent academic record.
Having an excellent academic performance has a lot of benefits to the students in their
future careers.
: Next is the school where the respondents are studying, Stratford International
School. A private non-sectarian institution in General Santos City was established in 2000
and named after Stratford-upon-Avon in England, the birthplace of William Shakespeare.
: Effect. It occurs due to an antecedent (such as a cause or agent).
: Lastly, an Adolescent (a young person) that is in the process of developing from a
child into an adult.
: Let us now hear from Ms. Harid and Ko to discuss the conceptual framework.
HARID: Let's move on in the conceptual framework, so as we can see, we have dependent
variables and independent variables. What we have in dependent variables is the effects
of romantic relationships on the students which factors are academic performance, time
management, and levels of motivation.
Ko: And in the second framework which is the independent variables we have here the
academic performance of the students which is the factor is the first semester general
average or the (GA) of the Grade 12 students. So as we can see here, we have the double
arrow because based on our perspective, the general average of the students could affect
their romantic relationships the same as how the romantic relationship affects the first
semester’s general average of the students.
