Title: Juan and the Asuangs
Setting: At the barrio where all the people have their own chores and in the jungle where Juan and his
carabao wandered to find the manananggal and save the missing dogs and chickens
Character: Juan, his Lola, his carabao, the missing dogs and chickens
Conflict: The dogs and chickens in their barrio started missing one by one until no one left
Theme: Being brave and courageous is like love, it gives hope not only to your ownself but also to
others.
Point of view: The story about Juan and the Asuangs are being narrated by a third person.
Plot: Beginning - Juan lives in a barrio where all the people are joyfully doing their own chores. One day,
he had thought about the disappearance of the chickens and dogs in the village.
Middle - When Juan overslept at his carabao's back, his carabao wandered deep into the jungle. He then
decided to get him. While on their way, he met various asuangs such as Kapre, Tianak, Dwarfs, Batibats,
and Manananggal whom he and his Lola suspected for the missing dogs and chickens. He just followed
what his Lola told him in case he met a certain asuang in order to keep himself safe.
End - Juan found the lower half of the manananggal and looked for some wild peppers since he didn't
have salt and vinegar with him. He succesfully made the mananaggal howl and saved the lives of the
dogs and chickens. The people from his village celebrated his bravery and their pets who were back
home.
